6.3. Allotted time:- 85 hours , practical nil
6.4. Course Objective:- At the end of this course the student able to: explain air flow and its interaction with the body,
understand the international standard atmosphere(ISA) and relation to the aerodynamics, describe the formation
and relation of thrust, lift, drag and weight, describe the effect of variation of angle of attack on the characteristics and
performance of the aerofoil, define the center of gravity, pressure, lift and effect of wing loading and stalling speed
with angle of attack, bank angle, weight distribution; relate Ground speed(GS), True speed (TAS) and indicated air
speed (IAS); Describe the aircraft stability and control system about the axis, formation of flutter and mechanisms to
reduce it ; Describe Dutch Roll and Pitch Up and state the methods used to control them, describe the control surface
and their function, explain the high lift developing structures, the effect of vortex and vortex generator; explain the
sonic property of the airflow and formation of shocks.

1.4. Effect of altitude and atmospheric condition on fluid motion
i. Streamline flow
ii. Turbulent flow
iii. Two dimensional flow
iv. Bernoulli’s principle and the venture tube
2. Airfoil theory (5 hours) 2.1. Application of Bernoulli’s theory to flat plate and curved plate
