2024 QUIZ RULES & REGULATIONS

Team Composition

• The contest would have four (4) schools.


• Each school fields a team of two (2) contestants in the contest.
• Questions are posed to schools and not individuals, so either team-member can
answer a question.
• SUBSTITUTIONS: Teachers can bring on the third contestant to replace any of the two
starting contestants on the stage. This can be done once In the contest, before the
start of the Round 3 (i.e. the MATHEMATICS round)

Content and Rules of the Contest


• The contest would consist of Four (4) Rounds.
Round 1 — English Language
Round 2 — Science
Round 3 — Mathematics
Round 4 — General Knowledge

∆Questions and Points Allocation


• Questions would be given to schools in turn throughout the contest.
• A correctly answered major Question fetches the school a maximum of 3 points. If a
major Question is wrong, the question would be transferred to the other schools as a
bonus starting from the next school to the school that had its question wrong.
• A correctly answered Bonus question fetches the school 1 point. (NB: True/ False
questions are only transferable if the School decided not to answer the question)

Time Allocation

• Non-Calculation Questions — 15 Seconds (Unless otherwise indicated by the


Quizmaster)
• Calculation Questions — 30 Seconds

(NB: The use of Calculators for the contest would not be allowed)

• The Quiz Master is in charge of the adjudication of the programme. Thus, it lies firmly
in his/her prerogative to award full, or partial marks, or none at all for answers given
by contestants.
Additional Rules
➢ All teachers present will sit together in a designated area.

➢ The Brain Consult Team will designate seats for participating schools. Participants are to
cooperate with them to ensure that the seating arrangements are followed.

➢ Where a school is dissatisfied with the answer to a question, the teacher is to alert the
Brain Consult Foundation Supervisor IMMEDIATELY, to ensure Fairness and Calm
throughout the contest.

➢ Where a school has evidence of cheating by another school, the teacher is to alert the
Brain Consult Foundation Supervisor immediately, in order for appropriate action to be
taken.

➢ Brain Consult reserves the right to disqualify a school caught cheating.

➢ Complaints about questions, or answers, and reports of cheating will not be entertained
after the final results have been declared.

➢ Under no circumstance should a teacher or student attempt to disrupt the flow of the
Competition by interrupting, or attacking the quiz master, or contestants on stage. Doing
so can result in the disqualification of the school.

➢ Tie breaks: Where there is a tie for first place in the contest, extra questions will be
thrown To both schools in turn and the contestants would have to answer correctly.

➢ All participating schools are to conduct themselves with the utmost decorum; no
taunting of other schools or contestants..

➢ Teachers are not allowed on stage while the quiz programme is in progress.

➢ Contestants must NOT show any sign of a wrong answer while another school is
answering a Major question. This is considered to be bullying and may attract a penalty
from the Quiz Master.
