Task 2
Why depression is so common in younger generations

Depression is a common illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way
you think and how you act. Depression causes feelings of sadness and loss of interest
in activities you once enjoyed. Especially teenagers are at risk.
After a decline in the 1990s, the number of young people that commit suicide
has been increasing every year. While no one can explain exactly why, many experts
say adolescents and teens today probably face more pressures at home or school,
worry about financial issues for their families. Adolescence is a chal-
lenging time for everyone, especially for the Z generation because they raised in dif -
ferent environment( age of the internet).
There is no single cause of depression: life events, social media, overprotective
parents, recent death and so on. In all cases, it is important that depression is diag-
nosed and treated early. Before getting diagnosed with depression there exist a few
signs. Parents need to pay attention.
