NETWORK CONNECTORS

Connectors are used to connect cables together or to other devices. It is the part of the cable that plugs
into a port or interface to connect one device to another. Most connectors are male (containing one or
more exposed pins) or female (containing holes in which the male connector can be inserted).

Connectors are chosen in reference to the cables and device which are to be connected. The following
are types of connectors:

 RJ45 Connector: RJ45 is the short for Registered Jack – 45. It is an eight –wire connector used
commonly to connect computers into a (LAN) network, especially Ethernet star networks. RJ45
are used in Ethernet networking to connect system and other devices together using twisted
pair cables.

 RJ11 Connector: RJ11 is the short for Registered Jack – 11. It is an four –or six- wire connector
used primarily to connect telephone lines to computer system for browsing purpose using
telephone twisted cables. They are also used to connect some type of LANs.

 BNC T-Connector: This is the short name for Bayonet Neill Concelman T-Connector, (most times
referred to as T-connector). It is a type of cable used with coaxial cables in a 10Base-2 Ethernet
system.
