A Note on Our Individual Treasure Tables

The purpose of this product is to make your life as DM easier.

Individual treasure in the base Fifth Edition DM's guide is purely based on coins. Not only do the coins lack in
storytelling capability, but the coins are distributed over a large range of CRs with large jumps in value. A CR 3
veteran, a great opponent in combat, might only have a few coppers to his name - while just a few CR levels higher
might have a hundred times as much treasure. We felt this missed a great opportunity for individuals to carry items
of utility, gemstones, magic items, or even better or more diverse weapons, armor, and equipment... and to have a
smooth transition from level to level scaling treasure value evenly with CR.

This free set of tables is, however, incomplete. It only covers the first 5 levels of CR, from simple, to common and
uncommon treasure. This represents the treasure that normal humanoids and creatures might carry on them. This
should cover 90% of the populace in most campaign settings. Limitless Adventures will release a full treasure table
using this alternate system building on these tables, all the way to epic levels. Why should every death knight you
fight have a bag of holding full of loose change. Why not a better sword or shield?

Treasure Points
Individual treasure in the original DMG leaves every encounter with coins only. This system was developed to provide a
similar GP value for individual treasure, but also offers some variety in the personal possessions and items an NPC or
monster might have acquired through their journey.

Every NPC or monster has a history, and they may have acquired more than just coins on their journey. Gear,
equipment, keepsakes, money, gems, arms and armor, and magic items are all possibilities that might differentiate
between three or four NPCs you might encounter. The additional treasure might also provide additional challenges for
the party to overcome, especially if the treasure is healing potions or better weapons and armor.

This simple system involves rolling a number of Treasure points for a given individual based on their CR. There's some
chance, in the dice rolls, as well as some choices. Why would an Ogre carry a porcelain teacup? It might work in your
campaign. You may just choose to buy the appropriate treasure once you've selected a table. We've tried to make the
system flexible.

To determine points, use the chart below with the following formula:

Total individual treasure points = [Monster CR] x [Treasure Die] + 1

For example: An Ogre (CR 2) would have a d4 monster die, and roll 2d4+1 to determine treasure points.

There are 5 tiers of treasure that can be rolled. Each tier is "purchased" with treasure points. The first tier "common"
costs 1 point, "uncommon" costs 2 points, etc. Suggested CR levels are listed with each treasure table if you don't wish
to choose and buy, just deduct that "table cost" from the pool of treasure points available.

Simple and Common Treasure
Simple and Common individual treasure represents what is commonly carried by the average NPC in your game world.
Monsters may also have these items, especially if humanoid. Non humanoid monsters or beasts may either collect
these items if they shine, or may have used them in constructing a nest or lair.

Typically, this treasure table will be accessible from CR 0 to CR 2 ... CR levels 3+ may use it to spend leftover points

Uncommon Treasure (CR 2-4)
Uncommon individual treasure represents what is commonly carried by middle class and wealthier individuals.
Merchants, Artisans, higher ranking military, nobles, and some adventurers will likely carry more tools of their various
trades with them. Monsters may have defeated or stolen these items from travellers.

Typically, this treasure table will be accessible from CR 3+ ... it may serve as a fallback for leftover points for CR 5+
creatures. For CR encounters above 5, use the standard treasure tables one CR level lower from the DMs guide, and
roll additional treasure as if the creature was a CR 5 ( 5d6+1 ) for additional non-coin treasure.

Limitless Adventures will release a full-range individual treasure product to handle higher level encounters.
