2- Describe the following consonant sounds :
/f/ : Labio-dental fricative : This sound is produced by placing the upper teeth on
the lower lip and blowing air through the gap between them.

/Ө/ : Dental fricative : This sound is produced by placing the tongue tip against
the back of the upper front teeth and blowing air through the gap between the
tongue and the teeth.

/b/ : Bilabial plosive : it is produced by closing the lips together and then
relasing the air with a pop.

/dʒ/ : Alveolar affricate : it is produced by first stopping the air with the tongue
against the aveolar ridge (the bump behind the upper front teeth) and then
releasing the air with a hiss.

/j/ : Palatal approximant : it is produced by raising the middle of the tongue


towards the hard palate ( the roof of the mouth behind the upper front teeth) and
letting the air flow out around the sides of the tongue.
