2 Description
• The BSPD has the role of turning off the engine in the event of sudden braking and acceleration of
more than 10% at the same time.

• It complies with the 2019 rules of FSG, FSAE, FB. The circuit works with active LOW logic 5V.

• The BRAKE COMPARATOR checks if the pressure in the brake circuit is more than the set threshold
that’s less than or equal to 30bars or less than 0.45V that’s to ensure the signal is not grounded.
DON NOT USE DIGITAL SENSORS FOR EXAMPLE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH.

• The THROTTLE COMPARATOR checks if throttle is open beyond a minimum threshold that’s more
than 10% from idle position or below 0.45V that’s to check if the signal is grounded.

• The output signals of the two comparators are fed to NOR gate (1 = error).

• The potentiometer VR3 = 45kΩ and the capacitor C8 = 10uF operate a time constant of 493ms.
The latch-delay COMPARATOR determines a delay of about 500ms (493ms) during the plausibility
condition. To increase the delay, rotate the screw on the potentiometer VR3 clockwise.

• The resistance R12 = 100 kΩ and the capacitor C7 = 100uF operate a time constant of 12039ms.The
Unlatch-delay COMPARATOR determines a delay of about 12039ms after which the BSPD is
unlatched (RESET CONDITION) and the engine can be restarted. The NO RELAY performs the
coupling with the car’s powerline.

• Both the brake signal and the accelerator signal are compared with upper thresholds set by the
respective potentiometers and a preset lower threshold 0.45v.

• Upper threshold: adjustable from 0 V to 5 V Set by the potentiometers VR2 & VR1 (0 kΩ to 10 kΩ)
for BPS and TPS. It needs to do a lot of rotations to change the voltage divider value. There is no
stop at the end of the sweep. when the full range is reached, the selector can rotate freely.
Threshold voltage can be probed on the pins of each potentiometer as shown in the image below.

• To increase the BPS threshold, rotate the pot VR2 clockwise.

• To increase the TPS threshold, rotate the pot VR1 clockwise.

• No heating problems, however internal voltage regulator has protection against over-current and over-
heating.
