Overview

The scientific name of Malaria is Plasmodium

Malaria is a disease that is from a parasite that comes from a


certain type of mosquito that is passed onto humans when
bitten. Malaria is a serious disease with a decently high
fatality rate of 3%
Symptoms

- Shaking
- Chills
- Headache
- Muscle aches
- Nausea
- Tiredness
- Can sometimes cause anemia and jaundice
Transmission

You are able to get this disease after being bitten by a


mosquito usually a female Anopheles Mosquito that has
already been bitten by somebody with the disease. It can also
be transmitted by transfusion of blood from needles or
syringes which have been contaminated by the disease.
People Most Vulnerable

The people that are most vulnerable to malaria are infants,


children under five years old, pregnant women, people with
HIV and AIDS and travellers.
