Question 1
As many people in Canada today have never experienced war, "Remembrance" becomes a challenging
concept. How do you remember what you haven't known? Write about what you, personally, are doing to
remember.

Answer 1

I feel that our schools play a major role in passing on the significance of Remembrance Day to the next
generation, Remembrance Day, history classes, documentaries, and educational programs all ain to
share the stories and lessons from the past. It's detrimental as its not just about the dates and facts,it's
about understanding the impact of those events. As well as that, memorials stand as solemn reminders of
the sacrifices made during wartime. When Remembrance Day comes around, these memorials become
the centre of attention. We reflect on the lives given and the courage shown, creating a link between our
present and the names and memories etched into those stone structures.

Question 2
Generations of Canadian Veterans, through their courage and sacrifice have helped to ensure that we live in a
peaceful country. If we can understand this, it makes saying “thank you” in remembrance of such an
accomplishment a much more relevant concept. How can we make sure that every Canadian can see this
value?

Answer 2

Expressing gratitude to veterans is important because it acknowledges and honors the sacrifices they've
made for their country. When we say "thank you" to veterans, we are recognizing the patriotism,
courage, and selflessness that characterize their service. To ensure this recognition made by generations
of Canadian veterans is acknowledged, implementing educational programs in schools that emphasize
the historical significance of military service, utilizing digital platforms, enhancing public spaces with
memorials, integrating narratives of military service into national celebrations and collaborating with
veterans organizations all seem beneficial to achieving this goal.

Question 3
How can I contribute to building peaceful relationships and communities? Write about what you personally are
doing or can commit to doing.

Answer 3

Personally, I feel surrounding myself with people that are genuinely passionate about their ideas and
creating a safe environment where you can be yourself is key to forming peaceful relationships and
finding like-minded individuals. From experience, when I feel that the people around me don’t allow me
to express myself Ive found myself distancing myself from those people and finding those who accept me
for who I am.
