CHAPTER 1
THE PROBLEM AND IT’S SETTING

Background of the study

The Technical Vocational Livelihood (TVL) is an first batch Last year S : 2022 – 2023 at

Aroroy National High School. This is a career strand is a specialized track in the K-12 education

system that focuses on providing students with practical skills and knowledge in specific

vocational areas. Within the TVL track, students often have major subject that delve deeper

into their chosen vocational field, allowing them to develop expertise and prepare for future

careers.

While the Technical Vocational Livelihood (TVL) Computer System Servicing (CSS) students

engage in their major subject, they encounter various difficulties that hinder their learning and

overall academic performance. These difficulties to practical obstacles, such as inadequate

resource, limited access to technology, or a lack of qualified instructors. Understanding the

specific difficulties faced by TVL CSS students in their major subject is crucial for several reasons
. Firstly, it can help educators and policymakers identify areas where additional support are

resources needed to enhance the learning experience of these students. Secondly, addressing

these difficulties can contribute to improving the overall quality of TVL CSS education and

better preparing students for their future careers in the field.

Famor (2005) the use of ICT in education has become a critical factor to ensure that the

country’s workforce is killed and prepared to meet the difficulties or challenges of development

and global employment opportunities.

Cajilin (2009) the data collected on ICT experiences or training programs revealed the

scarcity of professional development opportunities.

In the study conducted by K Mahaguay – M Mahaguay (2020) this study revealed that

difficulties encountered by work immersion students with their sex, while work habit and

competence. The value of volunteerism is not very evident from the respondents as well as the

knowledge on basic troubleshooting of hardware and software, monthly family income and sex

were not a determining factor of difficulties.

Moreover, the study of T Soriano - C Soriano (2022) according to their study revealed that

they applied similar methods to integrate positivity approach in difficulties experiences in

seeing the impact their effort to improved academic performances. The success of the students
even beyond Senior high school and stablish with the SHS learners.

Lozada (2017) stated the work immersion must be viewed as a vital point of providing students

a place to improve through simulation thus giving them knowledge and experiences to grow

as professional.

Further, Guimba (2018) in this study revealed that when respondents have a high level of

self – efficacy their confidence was developed thus, they become aware of their

responsibilities. Additionally, the high level of work immersion satisfaction implies that the

respondents enjoy the learning experiences in the work.

Therefore, this study will determine the difficulties or challenges faced by TVL CSS

students in their major subject. This research aims to identify the specific difficulties, explore

their underlying causes and purpose potential solutions to address these issues effectively. The

findings of this study will contribute to the body of knowledge on TVL CSS education and

provide practical recommendations for improving the learning experience on outcomes of TVL

CSS students in their major subject.

Theoretical framework

This study is anchored on the Theory of Difficulties and Theory of Repair of Repair Theory.

Theories of Difficulties by David Perkins (Dec.2006) both educational researchers and

experienced teacher developed what might be called theories of difficulty. A strong theory of

difficulty identifies learner characteristics trouble spot for a particular are of instruction and

include some casual analysis of why occur toward improved teaching.

Repair Theory (K. Vanlehn,nd ) is an attempt to explain how people learn procedural skills

with particular area of instruction, and includes some causal analysis of why they occur toward

improved teaching. In this theory of difficulties, we demonstrate the learners in different ways

of learning.

Repair Theory (K. Vanlehn,nd) is an attempt to explain how people learn procedural skills

with particular skills attention to how and why they were mistakes (I. e, bugs). The theory

suggests that when a procedure cannot be performed, an impasse occurs and the individual

applies various strategies to overcome the impasse. In this Repair Theory, we describe how
learners can learn only on procedural skills with specific reasons and factors on why and how

they make mistakes specifically the particular area.
