 INTRODUCTION

• Edward and Christie started in 1979.

• A provider to public sector offering services
highway construction, irrigation and land drainage, storm water drainage construction,
water supply and drainage work

• Ecto Engineering is a private construction company who was established in 2015

September.
• The main office of company is situated at 17/A, George. E. Desilva mawatha, Kandy.

• A business/firm incorporated under the Law of the democratic Socialist Republic of Sri
Lanka

• Registered under the business name statue of trade corporation and Non incorporation
trade introduction of the Western province

• To widen their horizons, Edward and Christie and ECTO engineering joined their hands in
completing this project.

• The Edward and Christie only handles the financial side of the project while ECTO
Engineering has the full influence on design and construction.
ABOUT TRAINING PROGRAM
• 18 floors with ground floor (2 towers)

• 03 Parking floors with Ramps and Provision for Visitor Parking in towers

• 900 sq. ft housing units with 3 bedrooms – 105 housing units

• 700 sq. ft housing units with 2 bedrooms – 105 housing units

TECHNICAL EXPERIENCES

Electrical conduit works

• Materials
25 mm conduit pipes (Polycon – pro) Junction boxes, Clevant cement, Axoblades, Packing
tapes, Measuring tape, Regiform

• Method
According to the conduit drawings and put the junction boxes on the marked places
 When joining the conduit pipes, clevant cement used to fix pipes with junction boxes.

When fixing the junction boxes, regiform kept under the junction boxes using packing tapes.

After concreting then drilling the slab and we can identify places of junction boxes.
Floor gully
• Materials
110 mm pipes, Floor gullys, 110 mm Endcaps, 63 mm Sockets
In addition Grinders, Power supply and Clevant cement used and also measuring tape was
used to keep the floor gully on the correct place according to the drawing.

• Method
Fixed the trap in the floor gully and then joined the part of 110 mm pipe on the floor gully
And also 110 mm endcap fixed on the 110 mm pipe.
 For keep the floor gully, both panels of reinforcements should be removed. Because the grinder used
to cut the extra reinforcements according to the dimensions.

After cut the reinforcements, floor gully kept and then binded the floor gully with reinforcement
panel.

MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCES
Safety

• Construction site safety is a component of linked activities that protects site employees from
hazards of illness, injury, death, or other health-related issues.

Safety principles in site

• Personal protective equipment

Gloves, Goggles, Boots, Safety jackets, Dust mask, Safety shoes, Safety helmets

• A brief introduction was providing about the safety working and current stage of the site at the
morning meetings with all employees
• Provided a rampart around the site to cover the guard the site and workers from the external influence.

• The building’s safety nets are utilized as the safest and most cost-effective fall prevention technique for stopping
persons or objects from falling from the site.

• For the purpose of preventing a fire accident, fire alarms and fire extinguishers are placed and emergency
assembly point was arranged for preventing the fire accidents.

• A First aid box was maintained at the site to treat miner scale accident.

• Safety instructions can be effectively communicated by using attractive signboards that use fewer words and more
visuals

• Wear masks in the work site and setup sanitizing facilities for preventing the corona virus.
 OUTCOMES OF THE ACTIVITIES DURING TRAINING
PROGRAMME
• Communication skills
proper communication skill is needed to achieve the targets as well as for existence without any problems

• Time management
With managing of time, we can finish works within day

• Team spirit
It was a great to work with a team and revolutionary ideas came up with everyone and throughout that can be
fulfilled the tasks and achieved the goals very easily.

• Decision making
Make correct decisions is the responsibility of an Engineer. Otherwise there may occur many problems.

• An ability to identify, formulate and solve problems

Discuss with others and give better solution for works. It is a good skill to develop as a professional.
 CONCLUSION

• Edward and Christie services to the private sector and also Ecto Engineering is a private construction
company. Edward and Christie and ECTO engineering joined their hands in completing this project.

• When working under the sections of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) works, I got basic
knowledge.

• I got technical experiences about conduit works and floor gully.

• I got knowledge about safety principles, signs and protocols under management experience.

• Labor management is a section where I practically involved at the site.

• I got some outcomes and common senses of the activities during training programme.
