How to Use KidSpring Curriculum

Schedule
Our materials are created to run on the following schedule, but feel free to adjust
things to make them work best for your ministry:

Activity Stations 10-20 minutes

Clean Up 5 minutes
Large Group 15-20 minutes
Transition 5 minutes
Small Group 15-20 minutes
TOTAL approximately 1 hour

Small Group Lessons

Small Group Lessons are created with a specific age-group in mind. Here is the
breakdown of the lessons provided for each age group:

Preschool
● Toddlers—ages 14-23 months
● Twos—two year olds
● Preschool—three, four & five year olds who have not yet entered
Kindergarten
● Special Needs—same as the Preschool lesson, but modified to be done
with a child one-on-one

Elementary School
● K-3—Kindergarten, first, second & third grade
● 4-5—fourth & fifth grade; sometimes these lessons are broken into
individual grade levels and/or genders
● Special Needs—same as the K-3 lesson, but modified to be done with a
child one-on-one

Small Group activities are designed to be done in small groups with the following
volunteer to kid ratios:

● Nursery—1:3
● Preschool—1:5
● Elementary School—1:10
Italicized Words in Documents
Some words in our small group lessons and large group scripts are italicized, and some
are not. Here is why:

Small Group
● Italicized words are meant to be said
● Non-italicized words are actions, notes, or instructions for the small
group leader and are not necessarily meant to be read aloud

Large Group
● Italicized words are cues, and are NOT meant to be said
● Non-italicized words are meant to be said

Environment Music
We have found that playing music in our environments is a great way to create an
inviting and engaging atmosphere that fits the theme & teaching of the series. We
recommend creating separate CDs containing “Environment Music” for Nursery,
Preschool and Elementary environments. For all ages, Song #1 is always a “Clean Up
Song”. On the Nursery CD, Song #2 is the song listed in the lesson.

Toddlers DVD
Since we do not take Toddlers (ages 14-23 months) to a large group environment, we
create DVDs with Preschool song videos and Bible story videos on them to play within
the Toddler rooms. This allows them to experience an age appropriate time of
worship within their environment. You can download song videos from the “Series
Media” folder and Bible story videos from the weekly “Media” folders.

Large Group Scripts

Large group scripts are written for live actors to perform in addition to provided
media elements such as song videos, Bible stories, video clips, etc.

Elementary School
● Two Actor Script—generally written for TWO live actors & ONE worship
leader.
● One Actor Scripts—when provided, these are written for ONE live actor
on stage.
● Occasionally, scripts are written to include a Game Director, who may
double as the Worship Leader, and/or Additional Characters who are
needed various weeks, but not the entire series.
● The Large Group Shopping List will tell you more about the characters
for the specific series.

Preschool
● Two Actor Scripts—written for TWO live actors on stage.
● One Actor Scripts—when provided, these are written for ONE live actor
on stage.
