AWARDS & HONOURS

NOBEL PRIZE:
 The Nobel Prize is an international award administered from 1901 by the
Nobel Foundation in Stockholm, Sweden, and based on the fortune of
Alfred Nobel, Swedish inventor and entrepreneur. In 1968, Sverige’s
Riksbank established The Sverige’s Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences
in Memory of Alfred Nobel, founder of the Nobel Prize.
 The Nobel Foundation, responsible for administering the Nobel Prizes,
has announced that this year’s Nobel Prize winners will receive an
additional 1 million Swedish crowns, bringing the total financial reward
to 11 million Swedish crowns (approximately $986,000). The decision to
increase the prize money aims to align it with the Foundation’s improved
financial position & due to decreased currency rate of chronars when
compared to Dollars & Euros.
 In 2012, the prize money was reduced from 10 million crowns to 8
million due to financial considerations. Subsequently, the amount was
raised to 9 million in 2017 and further increased to 10 million in 2020,
restoring it its pre-2012 level
