Scope of Works This method of statement describes the general method that will be adopted for carrying out the general site clearance works for North Portion of the Contract. The area of extent shall refer to the area within the site boundary which ineludes North portal, Approach road, and RC Full Enclosure. The working area has been highlighted in Appendix A: General Layout Plan. Construction Sequence and Method First of all, a temporary access haul road shall be formed on the area as shown on the attached Appendix A: General Layout Plan. The approximate 4.5m wide temporary road will be created on the existing pavement/ground and soil filling may be required when necessarily. Prior to the action, application for the entrance from Tai Po Road will be submitted to Employer and relevant authority, and agreed on TMLG. Site clearance at electric pole or below overhead cable will not be proceed until the cables and poles have been abandoned, On the initial stage, only backhoe is allowed for forming the temporary access. The excavated material and vegetation would be temporarily stockpiled. ‘The stockpiled material would be covered by impermeable sheeting fixed stably and with sufficient overlapping. And those material would be disposed out off latterly. The natural steam course shall be remained or diverted through a circular steel pipe to discharge to a suitable location where shall be determined on site and agreed with the Engineer. The temporary drainage management plan will be submitted separately. Before the temporary access to be formed, the Contractor shall obtain approval from the relevant Government Department for construction of temporary access road, trees felling as well as tree transplanting etc. Upon the completion of the above, the general site clearance works would be commenced. Basically, clearance will only be taken place in the location where the excavation is being commenced The steep cut slope formed adjacent to the excavation will be sprayed by shoterete ot covered by impermeable plastic sheets or canvas. No trees outside the felling zone would be removed without the Engineer's approval. Method statement of tree felling within KCRC 30m Protection Zone would be submitted separately and the trees will be identified and jointly inspected with KCRC before action, The transplant and remaining tree as shown on the tree felling plan shall be properly marked and protected, identified or fenced off as required. Usually, all the trees including the roots, vegetation and excavated material should be removed off site immediately, except the initial stage of site clearance as mentioned above. ‘The natural drainage course will be remained as original and maintained timely, especially near KCRC railway boundary where will be cleaned and monitored at all time, Footpath will be provided/maintained during the construction if there is any villages using the footpath, Plant and Equipment 3 nos, of Excavators 1 no, of Bulldozer 2 nos, of 24 tons Dump Trucks Safety/Environment Issues The worker shall wear all the person protective equipment provided by the company, included the safety helmet, safety boot and receive introduction training before entering the work site. When the worker executes the work at height a full set of full body hamess mounted with independent safety shall be wear. The worker shall wear reflective vest when working in vicinity of the road or nearby the excavator or other heavy machines. The site foreman shall pay attention and closely monitoring for the operation adjacent to the KCRC fencing. The working area of excavators or bulldozers shall not be located within 5m from the existing KCRC fencing, All plant operators shall have license for machine operation. In upstream above KCRC’s drainage system, desilting system and earth bund along access will be set up to avoiding muddy slurry flowing in existing outlet culvert, Weekly cleaning up will be carried out, specially after rainstorm. Bared slope shall be properly protected by impermeable plastic sheets or other means, Surface shall be maintained in a stable condition and shall be formed to fall water and to prevent ponding. All used chemical ot engine oil shall be collected and disposed in appropriate container and delivered to chemical waste treatment plant by licensed collectors. As for entranees/exit at Tai Po Road, a shallow pond will be formed by spraying concrete for vehicles wheel washing before its leaving the site and routinely cleaning required.
