Pictures of different vegetable crops:
E. Introduction
1) Idea - Show pictures of different vegetable crops and ask students to brainstorm and classify them according to
their methods of culture. They can work in pairs or small groups to come up with their own classifications.
F. Development This activity helps students practice classifying vegetable crops based on their methods of culture.
Instructions:
1) Divide the class into small groups.
2) Distribute the cards with names of different vegetable crops to each group.
3) In their groups, students should sort the vegetable crops into categories based on their methods of culture (e.g. direct seeding, transplanting,
hydroponics).
4) Each group should create a chart showing their classification and present it to the class.
Rubric: - Correct classification: 5 pts - Clear presentation: 5 pts

Assessment Questions:
1) What are the different methods of culture used for vegetable crops?
2) How does classifying vegetable crops based on their methods of culture help in managing and growing them effectively?
3) Can you give an example of a vegetable crop that can be classified under multiple methods of culture? Explain why.
Task 1: Designing a Garden Layout
Students will design a garden layout for a specific vegetable crop, taking into consideration its method of culture. They will have to plan the
spacing, arrangement, and other factors that will optimize the growth and yield of the crop.
G. Engagement
Task 2: Creating a Step-by-Step Guide
Students will create a step-by-step guide on how to grow a specific vegetable crop using a particular method of culture. They will include details
such as planting instructions, care requirements, and potential challenges.
Question 1: Explain the importance of classifying vegetable crops according to their methods of culture in TLE.
Question 2: Compare and contrast two different methods of culture used for vegetable crops. Provide examples.
Question 3: Analyze the advantages and disadvantages of hydroponics as a method of culture for vegetable crops.

Assignment:
H. Assimilation
1) Assignment Overview: Research on a vegetable crop of your choice and classify it based on its method of culture. Write a short report
explaining the classification and its significance in TLE.
2) Assessment Question: Choose a vegetable crop and describe two different methods of culture that can be used to grow it. Discuss the
advantages and disadvantages of each method.

The learners, in their notebook, journal or portfolio will write their personal insights about the lesson using the prompts below.
