IV. PROCEDURES (1) Review: The teacher will start the class by asking the students to define education. Students will be asked to share
their thoughts on what they think the functions of education are in society.

(2) Motivation: The teacher will motivate the students by showing showing them a video on the importance of education
in society. The video will highlight the different ways education can transform the lives of individuals and communities.
E. Introduction (3) Activity: Activity 1: The teacher will divide the class into groups and ask them to come up with a skit that
demonstrates the different functions of education in society. Each group will be given a specific function to showcase in
their skit.

Activity 2: The teacher will ask the students to create a mind map that illustrates the different types of education in
society. The mind map should highlight the differences between formal and non-formal education and the benefits of
each.

Activity 3: The teacher will ask the students to create a poster that showcases the importance of education in society. The
F. Development poster should include statistics and facts that support the different functions of education in society.

(4) Analysis: The teacher will lead a class discussion on the skits, mind maps, and posters created by the students. The
discussion will focus on the different functions of education in society and the benefits of formal and non-formal
education.

(5) Abstraction: The teacher will guide the students in summarizing the different functions of education in society and
the importance of formal and non-formal education.

G. Engagement (6) Application: The teacher will give the students a real-life problem related to the objective. For example, the teacher
may ask the students to come up with a plan to increase access to education in a rural community.
H. Assimilation (7) Assessment:

What is the difference between formal and non-formal education? Answer: Formal education refers to education that is
provided by an institution recognized by the government, while non-formal education refers to education that is not
provided by a recognized institution.

What are the different functions of education in society? Answer: The different functions of education in society include
socialization, cultural transmission, social control, and social change.

Why is education important in society? Answer: Education is important in society because it helps individuals to develop
skills, knowledge, and values that are necessary for personal and social development.

(8) Assignment: The students will be asked to write an essay on the importance of education in society. The essay should
include the different functions of education and the benefits of formal and non-formal education.

Interactive Activities:

GAS 11-A: Debate: Divide the class into two groups and ask them to debate on the topic "Formal education is better
than non-formal education". Each group should present arguments to support their position.

GAS 11-B: Role Play: Ask the students to role-play different scenarios that demonstrate the functions of education in

TVL11: Quiz Bee: Conduct a quiz bee on the different functions of education in society. The questions can be multiple-
choice, true/false, or fill in the blanks.
