CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

Ukraine is a country located in Eastern Europe and is the second largest

European country, composed of 24 regions. those regions are Dnipropetrovsk,

Ternopil, Poltava, Kherson, Zakarpattia, Sumy, Mykolaiv, Rivne, Odesa, Luhansk,

Khmelnytsk, Cherlcasy, Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Volyn,

Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, and Autonomous Republic of Crimea (formally Crimea) which

was annexed by Russia. The reigons always ends with oblasts, which is the equivalent

of states in the US.

In 2022, Russia started an invasion against Ukraine, affecting both Russia and

Ukraine’s economy. According to REUTERS (October 10, 2023), Ukraine’s economy

shrank by about one-third last year following Moscow’s Feb. 24, 2022 invasion.

Ukraine’s government expects their GDP to grow about 5% this year and next year,

and according to Constant Menuet (October 19, 2023) that Ukraine’s overall exports

will sadly continue to shrink this year and a potential economic lifeline if the war

drags on.

Currently as of 2023 Ukraine’s GDP is 173 billion USD.

Statement of the Problem

The purpose of this research is to determine how Ukraine was able to fix their

economy even though Ukraine is currently in a conflict against Russia. And how

Ukraine’s economy fell and affected its people.

Research Questions

RQ 1: What caused the fall of Ukraine’s economy?

RQ 2: What caused the rise of Ukraine’s economy?

RQ 3: How did the fall and rise of Ukraine’s economy affect its people?

Significance of the Study

This study is important for one reason. It shows that even though Ukraine’s

economy is rising recently, it doesn't mean we don't have to do deeper research on

why Ukraine's economy is rising. There's still more to uncover about “The Rise of

Ukraine’s Economy”. This will benefit people who plan on making a deeper research

about Ukraine’s Economy for articles etc.

Scopes and Delimitations

This paper will identify the fall and rise of Ukraine’s economy more specifically

about the rise of Ukraine’s economy, and we will identify how the fall and rise of

Ukraine’s economy affected its people. This paper won’t include the events that

happened before 24th of February 2023.

Each subheading may have more than two paragraphs.

Subheading 2

You may create more subheadings after this if necessary. You may have more

pages depending on your discussion.

NOTE: When writing your RRL, your main goal is to provide your insight and

analysis of the source. DO NOT JUST SUMMARIZE OR PARAPHRASE the

content– add your own thoughts.

End your RRL discussion with a single paragraph that reiterates the MAIN or MOST

SIGNIFICANT ideas mentioned.
