Welcome to Selkirk College

We have a few college policies and practices that we want to ensure that you are aware of prior to your arrival.
Please read through the following points and if you have any questions or concerns you are welcome to reach out
to internationaladmissions@selkirk.ca.

AIRPORT PICKUP

• You are required to book your domestic flight from Vancouver to the West Kootenay Regional Airport
(YCG) located in Castlegar, British Columbia
• Airport Pick up (optional for students not in homestay) is available for students who will be living in the
Castlegar or Nelson Student Housing or Off Campus Accommodation. This service costs $100 (non-
refundable) and includes:
o Airport pickup from airport in Castlegar
o Setting up a bank account, shopping, etc.

If interested in this option you must reach out to Misoon Jang (mjang@selkirk.ca) to register.

ACCOMMODATION

• HOMESTAY: $100 Homestay placement fee at least 2 months before the semester begins is required.
Later requests may be accepted depending on homestay availability. Full semester payment is required at
least 3 weeks before arrival.

students. Students are responsible for finding their own off campus accommodation as well as making
themselves aware of the approximate costs.
• ON CAMPUS STUDENT HOUSING: Living on campus, you get a private room and shared bathroom. No
meals are included. Please contact the housing coordinator directly, choosing the appropriate campus for
your program. Student housing fills quickly and may not be available.

ADMISSIONS

• PROGRAM CHANGE: After acceptance into the program as outlined in your offer letter, any request for
program change before or after arrival at Selkirk College is subject to approval by Selkirk College and
program availability. Requests to change programs may not be granted.
• REFUND POLICY: Please thoroughly read through the Selkirk College refund policy as sent to you with
your offer letter.
• REQUESTS TO LEAVE DURING THE SEMESTER FOR PERSONAL REASONS: Understand that requests to
leave in the middle of a semester for personal reasons may not be granted, and if granted, you are
responsible for understanding how this may affect your study permit, status in Canada, or future Post
Graduation Work permit.
• LATE ARRIVAL: Understand that arriving at the College after classes have begun poses a serious threat to
your academic success, and that you may be refused admission to the program or deferred to the next
available intake.
• TUITION DEADLINES: It is your responsibility to be aware of when your tuition fees are due for every
semester that you attend Selkirk College. This information is available on our website and through our
Admissions Office. Over-due fees will result in late fees as well as restricted access to student and
registrar’s office services, such as transcripts and enrolment letters.
