Dear Zenibeth:
Congratulations! We are pleased to inform you of your acceptance to Florida State College at Jacksonville for
the fall term 2022 which begins on August 29, 2022. Our offer of admission is conditional and
contingent upon the satisfactory completion of all required enrollment steps.
• ARRIVAL INFORMATION: When you arrive in Jacksonville, please call 904 633-5974 to schedule your
check-in appointment. You will need to bring your passport, I-94, and I-20. You MUST be present at
International Student Orientation, held the week before classes begin. The first day of class is Aug 29,
2022. If you do not arrive by 08/29/2022, your attendance will be deferred to the next semester.
• COLLEGE PLACEMENT: Before you start classes, you will need to be tested for course placement,
complete advising/orientation, and register and pay for courses. Depending on your test results, you
hours per term (15-week semester). You will work with your F-1 international advisor to select and
register for classes. You may only take one Online class per term.
• TUITION INFORMATION: Florida State College at Jacksonville issued your I-20 form with the
understanding that you would have adequate finances available to support yourself during your period
of study in the United States. The estimated cost of tuition per term is $4,900 for 12 credit hours. Please
be prepared to make full tuition payments at the time of registration. You may make a payment with
cash or check, with a US-based checking or savings account, or with a US-based credit or debit card.
Payments made with a credit or debit card are subject to a 1.75% service fee.
• INSURANCE: FSCJ requires proof of medical insurance that meets a minimum standard as a prerequisite
to registration. A plan made especially for the F-1 students at FSCJ is available at
comparable.
• HOUSING: Students can choose to live at the FSCJ dormitory, 20West, which is located within walking
distance of Downtown Campus where the ELI program is housed. Please visit www.fscj.edu/housing for
more information.
• BOOKS AND COMPUTER: Students will need to purchase textbooks from the FSCJ bookstore before or
during the first week of class. Books may also be available from other sellers, but books with an online
access code must be purchased from the FSCJ bookstore. Additionally, we strongly recommend that
students start college with a reliable laptop, desktop, or Chromebook computer, and home internet
access. A smartphone or tablet will not be sufficient for completing most assignments.
• STUDENT ID: Students will obtain an FSCJ student ID during the first week of class. The ID is free and
must be worn at all times when students are on campus. The ID also serves as your library card and
• DINING ON CAMPUS: Students can buy breakfast and lunch from the on-campus cafeterias. There are
microwaves available to heat up lunch brought from home. Our culinary program also serves gourmet
lunches and dinners several times throughout the semester at Café Frisch located at Downtown Campus:
Enclosed is your I-20 Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status. Upon the receipt of your I-20
form, you should contact the U.S. Embassy/Consulate to schedule an interview for your F-1 student visa. It is
important to apply for your student visa as far in advance as possible. Many consulates recommend that
appointments be made no more than 90 days from the intended date of travel, but some can make earlier
arrangements for interviews.
