Problem: (ENERGY CALCULATIONS)

A Dolomite ore has its size reduced from an average of 50mm to an average of 10mm. The power
required was 28 kW per kg/s material crushed. How much energy will be required to reduce the
average size from 60mm to 15mm. Calculate also the bond index of this material? There are three
laws that give the relationship between energy consumed and the average size reduction. Kick’s,
Bond’s and Von Rittinger’s.

If we assume that the chalcocite ore has to be reduced in size from 60mm to various smaller sizes
such as 55, 45, 35, 25, 15mm.

Use the information above and use MS Excell to draw a graph which plots the reduction size on
the X axis and the energy that would be required to achieve this reduction as given by each of the
three laws on the Y axis.

Your graph should have three lines on it and each associated with a law.
