Introduction

The burgeoning transition of the healthcare industry into the digital realm has led to an
unprecedented accumulation of patient data. This digital transformation, while
beneficial, raises significant concerns about the security and integrity of healthcare
records. Blockchain technology emerges as a promising solution to address these
challenges, offering a secure, immutable, and cohesive approach to managing
healthcare information. The increasing interest and exploration of blockchain
applications in healthcare underscore its potential as a transformative tool for data
security and privacy.

Healthcare, in its digital evolution, encounters difficulties in ensuring the confidentiality

and unaltered integrity of patient data. Blockchain, gaining traction in various sectors,
presents itself as a viable safeguard for information, particularly in the healthcare
domain. Numerous projects and research initiatives have surfaced, investigating the
integration of blockchain to fortify the security and reliability of healthcare data.

Blockchain, recognized as a distributed ledger technology, is designed for peer-to-peer

communication of digital data transactions. Its applications extend across diverse
sectors, including energy generation, financial services, elections, and notably,
healthcare. The core principle of blockchain involves smart contracts, legally binding
arrangements that automate decentralized interactions. Employing consensus
mechanisms and cryptography, blockchain ensures secure and verifiable data storage,
eliminating the need for third-party intermediaries.

This paper comprehensively explores blockchain applications in healthcare,

categorizing recent developments and assessing strengths, weaknesses, and challenges.
By examining specific areas like health data management, supply chain logistics, IoT,
data security, and artificial intelligence, the study aims to unveil blockchain's
transformative potential in enhancing healthcare quality, security, and efficiency. This
analysis sheds light on the current landscape, paving the way for future research in
blockchain-driven healthcare solutions.
