All senior students must register from 22 January 2024 until 9 February 2024.Please ensure to
comply with the registration period to avoid being denied registration after this deadline.

Students with semester subjects must register for the first- and second-semester subjects once off
during the January/February registration dates stipulated above.

The commencement date of the classes is 5 February 2024.

The Prospectus and Students’ Rules and Regulations are available on the TUT Website or on the

ONLINE REGISTRATION

You do not need to come to campus to register. Access the online self-help registration
system off-campus via electronic devices. Need support, also PIN numbers, please email
emareturn@tut.ac.za, the subject line must be SUPPORT ONLINE AND YOUR STUDENT
NUMBER.

Please give a clear message of the error that occurred; include a screenshot or photo of the error
message as well.

Steps to follow:

1. Go to https://www.tut.ac.za/study-at-tut/i-am-a-student/undergraduate, click Online


Registration.
2. Log into the system, click on Registration and then on Rules and Regulations, read and
click the accept button.
3. Click submit registration, verify your information and select your subject(s)/module(s)
for 2024 (year AND first-semester AND second-semester if all prerequisite subjects have
been passed).
4. Students, with only second-semester subject(s)/module(s) outstanding, will be required to
register during the second-semester registration period, i.e. July 2024.
5. Click Continue, and then Accept Registration.
6. Please verify that your Proof of Registration is for the 2024 academic year and that you
have registered for the correct subject(s)/module(s).

REGISTRATION CHANGES

· Students can add subjects on the online registration system during the official registration
period only.
· Similarly, students can cancel subjects on the online registration system during the official
registration period only.
· After the closing date for registration, applications for subject additions and cancellations
should be done in writing, or by completing a subject addition and cancellation form, or
send an email to the faculty/campus email address mentioned above.
· No subject/qualification cancellations or additions will be accepted telephonically or at the
academic department(s).

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Please read this information carefully and follow the steps relevant to you. This will make
your life less difficult during the pre-registration (unblocking) and registration period.

All international students must report to the International Office on arrival before registration.

Before you can register, you will need to present the following:

International students on study permit

· Original passport with a valid study permit endorsed for study at the Tshwane University of
Technology.
· One certified copy of passport (page with photo and page with passport number).
· One certified copy of permit (endorsed for studies at the Tshwane University of Technology).
· Medical aid confirmation letter and proof of twelve (12) months’ payment.

PAYMENTS

A minimum initial payment of R1 500 is payable by self-funded students before academic


registration as the first instalment of the total tuition fees charged. A compulsory advance payment
of R1 200 is required before residence registration, for self-funded students.

Payments made to the University bank account take three (3) working days before reflecting on the
student’s statement of account. The electronic payment over the University counters will reflect on
the student’s statement of account immediately.

· A “Student Undertaking Form” must accompany a written proof of sponsorship or a bursary


letter. The form is accessible on the link https://www.tut.ac.za/bursaries-and-loans/downloads.
Sign and send to the return email address above to enable unblocking of registration.
· If the University allows you entry to return to the campus, only original sponsorship or bursary
letters will be accepted. No photocopies or faxed letters are acceptable.

Returning NSFAS students

· Results of all students who wrote examinations, including supplementary examination will be
shared with NSFAS, after publication. Returning NSFAS-qualifying students will be allowed to
register without paying the upfront registration fee, subject to compliance with the 2024 NSFAS
criteria.
· In terms of the academic progression criteria, it is important to note that students on the
DHET Bursary Scheme will receive a maximum of N+1 years of funding from NSFAS. Once
this funding is exhausted, no further funding will be available to students, regardless of the
academic status of the student.

Acknowledgement of Debt Arrangements

Students with outstanding fees who want to view results and continue their studies will be required
to bring a parent/guardian to one of the University’s campuses listed below, for a case-by-case
consideration.

· Parents/legal guardians are expected to enter into an acknowledgement of debt (AoD)


arrangements with the University.
· Parents/legal guardians are required to bring a copy of their ID document and proof of
income.
· Parents/legal guardians who are unable to visit any of the TUT campuses, will be contacted
either telephonically or by email to have the AoD forms sent to them to
complete.
· AoD arrangements to be made from commencement of registration to the last day of
registration, at any of the TUT campuses listed below, regardless of the campus where the
student is registered.

E-PAYMENT

1. Go to https://www.tut.ac.za , click Search and then click Online Registration.


2. Account and card limits to be sorted with account holder’s bank.
3. Debit and credit cards are accepted.
4. Log into the system, with pin number received when applying for admission. Click on MyGate,
Online payment and on Payment Information – Rules and Regulations.
5. Read the Rules and Regulations and click on I Accept button.
6. Click on Process Online Payment, complete the amount to pay, click on ClickToPay.
7. The screen to complete the card number, card holder’s name as printed on the card and the
CVV number will open.
8. The CVV number is the three (3) digits on the back of the card.
9. The account holder’s cellphone number linked to the account must be at hand, as the One Time
Pin (OTP) will be sent for authorization and finalization of the transaction. The student will have
the opportunity to print the receipt of the transaction.

The system will guide the student until the transaction is concluded. Once the OTP is inserted
and the transaction confirmed successful, there will be no reversal, as the student’s account will
be credited automatically. In case of overpayment, the refund procedure will be followed. Please

STUDENT ACCOMMODATION

Students who indicated that they require accommodation or students that indicated that they will
be returning, will be prioritized for university-managed (mostly on-campus) accommodation first.
Students can check their status on the online link or apply if not done so, until 12 January 2024.
Please note this is only a reservation and accommodation will be successful only after academic,
as well as residence registration. All students in University-managed residences are placed strictly
according to their academic programmes in order to participate in academic mentorship.

Steps to follow:

1. Go to https://www.tut.ac.za/ , click on Search and then click on Online Registration.


2. Log into the system with your Student number and Pin.
3. Click on Residence Registration and then Resident Registration Rules and Regulations.
4. Click on I accept button to accept the Rules.
5. Click on Submit Residence Application on the left-hand side.
6. Click on the blue 2024 link. (You Admission status must be “T” for senior indicating that you
are conditionally placed to be able to register. You will not be able to register fir your status
is “R3-denied” or “X-waiting list”.)
7. Click the I Accept the Registration button.
8. Click the Residence Proof of Registration on the left-hand side.
9. Print the Residence Proof of Registration for Residence with your Academic Proof of
Registration to your Residence to check-in.

Online residence registrations will open on Monday, 22 January 2024 when academic
registration open. Returning NSFAS-qualifying students will be allowed to register without paying
the upfront registration fee. All other returning students should pay the R1200 registration fee before
they can register for accommodation.

Occupation of the room in the residence can take place from Friday,2 February 2024, but only after
Academic and Residence registration. TUT follows a first-come, first-served process. Successful
residence registration is determined by how soon you register. A student is liable for the fees
from the date of residence registration.

Once all university-managed residences are full, students will be accommodated in alternative off-
campus student accommodation, provided they qualify for either NSFAS or a Bursary.

Online Application for Off-Campus Alternative Student Accommodation

TRes APPLICATION: RESERVATION STEPS FOR SENIOR STUDENTS

Follow the steps below to reserve your current residence and/or room for Off-Campus Student
Accommodation.

Visit TRes at http://www.tres.co.za/ , on the top right corner, click the drop-down login button and
select Student

1. Enter username and password.


2. Or, click forgot my password and enter your student number. An email with a reset
link will be sent to your student email.
3. You will be successfully logged in.
4. Then please take the SAHI daily assessment, this is to track the hotspot residences for
Covid-19 symptoms.
5. Navigate to my room, click on the option I would like to reserve a room.
6. Log out.

myTUTor SERVICE DESK SERVICES

The following services to support online learning and assessment are supported:
· Access and use of myTUTor as a Learning Management System (LMS).
· Download and installation of the PULSE App to receive myTUTor announcements, etc.
on your mobile device.
· Creating and managing your TUT4Life email address and resetting passwords.
· Access to TUT’s network, Eduroam
· Access to eResources such as eBooks in myTUTor.
· Free download and installation of Office 365. You will be required to us MS Teams for
your online collaborative sessions.
· Download and installation of Respondus Monitor, Respondus Lockdown Browser,
Invigilator and Clevertouch display software.

TUT4life EMAIL SETUP AND PASSWORD MANAGEMENT

Below are instructions to access your TUT4life email account. Please reset your TUT4life email
password before you can access myTUTor. It takes 48 hours after registration of subjects before
your subjects will appear on myTUTor for you to access.

1. Go to https://tut4life.tut.ac.za/
2. Click on ‘Reset My Password’.
3. Provide your student number and ID/Passport number, then click on ‘Submit’.
4. Type in your desired Password that meets the minimum criteria displayed, then click
on ‘Submit’.
5. Wait a few seconds to be redirected to Office 365.
6. Type in your studentnumber@tut4Life.ac.za in the email section.
7. Type in your Password in the password section, then click on Sign In.
8. Select Mail on the icons that will be displayed (If the mail icon is not displayed, then send your
student number with the description “Add mail icon on TUT4life” to TUT4Life@tut.ac.za).
9. For first-time users, you will be asked to choose a language which is English (South Africa) and
time zone as Harare Pretoria.
10. Click on ‘Save’.
11. Your mailbox will be displayed.
12. The next time you want to access TUT4life, go to https://tut4life.tut.ac.za/ then click
on Access My email. Follow steps 6 to 8.
13. Note: Your myTUTor password is the same as your TUT4life password.

Please note the following password rules when creating a password:

• Password must contain characters from each of the following categories:


* Uppercase characters (A through Z).
* Lowercase characters (a through z).
* Base - 10 digits (0 through 9).
* Special characters: ~!@#$%^&*_+-=|\(){}[];,.?
• Password must contain at least 8 characters and a maximum of 16, e.g. Password12@,
(Eight letters, one uppercase letter P, seven lowercase letters password, special
character @ and two numerical digits 12).
• Your student number may not appear in your password.
• Password may not consist of four consecutive numerical characters.
• Password must not contain your user account name (e.g. full names and/ or surname).

DATA APPLICATIONS AND ALLOCATIONS

1. Apply for data at https://tut4life.tut.ac.za/.


2. Update TUT Student Biographical Data by changing our cellphone number.
3. Should you change your cellphone number once data has been allocated for the month,
you will only receive data the following month.
4. Problems with data allocation, stolen phones, etc. should be addressed with your cellphone
supplier.
