Coverage for ESP Examination:

The word vocations comes from the Latin word vocare, which means “to call.”

Four Main Vocations :

GROUP 1: Priesthood - Priest is a male ordained minister of the Church. Because priests give their lives in total service to the Churc
they embrace the gift of celibacy and commit to a life of prayer. They proclaim the Good News, teach the Catholic faith, minister th
sacraments, build up their local faith community, and lead their faith community in worship.

GROUP 2: Religious Life - Religious priests, brothers, and sisters(nuns) commit their lives to sharing in the life and mission of the
religious community. They embrace the call to poverty, chastity, and obedience; and nurture their call through a life of celibacy, fait
prayer, and service.

GROUP 3: Married Life - A married person vows to faithfully love his or her spouse through the sacrament of marriage. Husban
and wives share a self-giving, love-giving, and a life-giving relationship with one another.

GROUP 4: Single Life - A person called to single life comes to believe that remaining single is the appropriate way to faithfully liv
his or her baptism call. Single men and women embrace the gift of celibacy while living alone, with family, or with others who a
single.

Keep in Mind for the next activity: The Three Levels of Vocation (Each member should copy the level of vocation for the next activity)

1. Human Vocation - This is the first call that we receive from God. We are first and foremost born as human beings. To be a real hum
being, we need to ensure ourselves of the four essentials of being human.
a. dignity (being created in the image of God)
b. intelligence (being able to ask intelligent questions and seek answers)
c. feelings (being able to sympathize with others)
d. etiquette ( being able to conduct ourselves accordingly with good manners and right conduct)

2. Christian Vocation - The second call that we receive from God is the call to become His disciples. Jesus has given concrete examples of how
be His real disciples:

1. loving one’s enemy

2. turning the other cheek
3. going the extra mile
4. taking up one’s cross and following Jesus daily

3. Chosen Vocation - The third call that we receive from God is the call to live life according to our own free choice, where we can be our be
selves and be closest to God. The essentials of fulfilling our chosen vocation lies in the conduct of four cardinal virtues.

1. Prudence - is the moral virtue that disposes practical reason to discern what is truly good in every circumstance and to choose the rig
means of achieving it.
2. Justice - is the moral virtue that consists in the constant and firm will to give what is due to God and neighbor.
3. Fortitude - is the moral virtue that ensures firmness in difficulties and constancy in pursuit of the good.
4. Temperance - is the moral virtue that moderates the attraction of pleasures and provides balance in the use of created goods.
Needs and Wants
= Needs refers to an individual's basic requirement that must be fulfilled, in order to survive.
Example: Clothes, food, shelter.
= Wants are described as the goods and services, which an individual likes to have,
as a part of his caprices for example computer, cellphone and laptop.

Kilos loob at isip
