Genesis 1:26-28

1.What do you understand in

this bible passage?
2.Why man created in the
image of God?
26
Then God said, "Let us make man in our
image, in our likeness, and let them rule over
the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over
the livestock, over all the earth, and over all
the creatures that move along the ground."
27
So God created man in his own image, in the
image of God he created him; male and female
he created them. 28 God blessed them and said
to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number;
fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish
of the sea and the birds of the air and over
every living creature that moves on the
ground."
28 God blessed them and said
to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number;
fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish
of the sea and the birds of the air and over
every living creature that moves on the
ground."
What would be the image of
God?
If man is made in
God’s image then
he must have
been made with
the image of the
Holy Trinity.
Why Trinity?
Because of His Three Dimensions and
so Man has a Three Dimensions also
for us to have communion with him.

Body – like Christ

Mind – like the Father
Soul – like Spirit
Catechesism of the Catholic
Church 41,
§41 All creatures bear a certain resemblance
to God, most especially man, created in the
image and likeness of God. The manifold
perfections of creatures-their truth, their
goodness, their beauty –all reflect the infinite
perfection of God.
Catechesism of the Catholic
Church 41,
God created us in His image to be perfect, but
just like a computer can be "warp" or change an
image until you can't recognize the person in
the photo, so sin warped the image of God in
us. God, however, sent His perfect image, Jesus
Christ, to restore God's image in us as we
believe and obey Him as our Savior and Lord
Catechesism of the Catholic
Church 41,
 How do you see yourself in that
meaning?
 What are now your realizations?
 How will you connect that teaching
to Genesis 1:27?
 What makes us unique and perfect?
1 Cor 15:37-39
37
When you sow, you do not plant the body that
will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or of
something else. 38 But God gives it a body as he
has determined, and to each kind of seed he
gives its own body. 39 All flesh is not the same:
Men have one kind of flesh, animals have
another, birds another and fish another.

Emotional Depth Moral Conscience
Moral Conscience
• The ability to decide right from
wrong is truly human.
• The depth of human moral
consciousness is demonstrated in
the legal systems developed.
• The idea of justice for all, integrity,
truthfulness, and honor are words
that describe this phenomenon.
Moral Freedom, Conscience,
Conscience Laws and Virtues.

The power or right to act, speak, or

think as you want without hindrance
or restraint is called Freedom.
We have freedom of choice – capable of great
love but also great evil
Two Levels of Freedom
1. Free choice: It is the freedom to choose
from among alternatives or the freedom
“we have”.
2. Fundamental freedom: It refers to the
kind of person that “I am or “I become” or
we have become through our individual
choices.
Moral Freedom, Conscience,
Conscience Laws and Virtues.

Conscience is an “inner voice

calling the person to love and to
do what is good and to avoid evil,”

What is Virtues?
Follow the acronym LISTEN in making moral
decisions.
L-ook for the facts
I-magine possibilities
S-eek insight beyond your own
T-urn inward
E-xpect God's help
N-ame your decision
Virtue- is a habitual and firm
disposition to do the good. We
develop virtues when we consistently
obey God’s teachings
Virtuous person- tends toward the
good with all his sensory and spiritual
powers; he pursues the good and
