SOP-034
Jandy Valve O-Ring Kit Replacement Revision 1

Emission: 01/10/2024

1.0 Purpose
The purpose of this SOP is to establish a standardized procedure for the replacement of O-
Ring kits in Jandy Valves at Optimal Pool Care, ensuring consistent product quality and
customer satisfaction.

2.0 Scope
This SOP applies to all personnel involved in the Jandy Valve O-Ring Kit Replacement
process at Optimal Pool Care

3.0 Responsibilities
The role of the Pool Maintenance Technician in the Jandy Valve O-Ring Kit Replacement
process is crucial for the successful and efficient execution of the procedure. This
individual is responsible for a series of tasks and actions throughout the replacement
process, ensuring that the pool equipment functions optimally and meets the quality
standards set by Optimal Pool Care.

4.0 Materials and Tools

Jandy Valve O-Ring Kit: Ensure the kit contains the appropriate O-
Rings for the specific Jandy Valve model being serviced (0-151KIT-9)
Lubricating Grease: Use a high-quality, compatible lubricating grease
to facilitate smooth installation of the new O-Rings. Ensure the
grease is suitable for use in pool applications and does not react with
the valve materials.
Screwdriver: The technician needs a Phillips and Slotted screwdriver
Snap On Drill: Using a Snap-On Drill for Jandy Valve O-Ring
replacement offers several advantages that contribute to the
efficiency and precision of the maintenance process.
Soft Cloth: Have a soft cloth available to clean and wipe down the
valve components during the replacement process. This helps
maintain cleanliness and prevents debris from entering the valve.

5.0 Procedure
5.1. Preparation

Ensure that the pool system is turned off and isolated from the power source. Before
opening the Jandy Valve you need to be aware knowing where the water level is at; if the
water level is above this Jandy Valve you need to shut off some valves before opening the
valve.

5.2. Valve Disassembly

Remove the leveler of the leveler of the Jandy Valve and from there you can use a Phillip
screwdriver to remove the screws or a small driver (never use an impact gun).
Disassemble the valve components, taking note of their arrangement for later reassembly.

Using a flat head screwdriver remove the top part of the valve, make sure to take a picture
to identify where the “inlet” sign is at. Remove all the old O-Rings

5.3. O-Ring Replacement

Remove the existing O-Rings from the valve components. Remove all the dust and old
grease and apply lubricating grease to the new O-Rings. Install the new O-Rings onto the
appropriate valve components. Make sure to press the diverter against the top part of the
valve like showed in the picture.

6.0 Definitions
O-Ring:
A mechanical gasket in the shape of a torus, typically made of rubber or other flexible
materials. O-Rings create a seal between two mating surfaces, preventing leakage in
mechanical systems. In this context, O-Rings are integral components in the Jandy Valve
and are replaced using the kit.
Jandy Valve:
A brand of pool and spa valves known for its high-quality construction and reliability.
Quality Control:
A process or system designed to ensure that a product or service meets specified quality
standards

7.0 Records
Maintain records of O-Ring replacements, including date, technician name, and any
observations made during the process.

8.0 Training
