The piece of art that I made for this project was a ceramic mug.

The mug was made out

of clay and I used glaze to add color to it. I color that I chose was light green. The sad part about

this mug is that it exploded in the kiln. Shown in the picture is my friend's plate with pieces of

my exploded mug on it.

To make the mug I started by kneading the clay so it got all the air out of it. Next, I made

that base. To do this I just rolled out a flat piece of clay and used a circular tool to get the shape I

needed. Next, I had to make a long rectangular piece for the wall of the mug. Then I scratched

the clay where I wanted to attach the base and wall of the mug. Finally, I made the handle. It was

kind of difficult to get the handle to stay on the mug. I used some glaze so it would stick.

For this project, I had to choose a different medium and I chose clay. I chose to do

ceramics for my project because I haven't done clay since 7th grade. It was difficult but fun and

if I could do anything differently I would try to do it all in one sitting so the clay would be easier

to work with.

My goal for this project was to make a successful mug. I did not accomplish this because

my mug exploded. I was a little upset. I want to try to make a mug again and see if I can actually

do it without it exploding.
