Teacher Job Description

Main Responsibilities:
To organize and implement academic and co-curricular activities to maintain and improve the
standard of students
To inculcate good habits and values among students.

DETAILS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
 Classroom Responsibilities
The teacher should perform his/her duty according to the given timetable.
For classroom management purposes, teachers must monitor the students when they are
working.
The subject teachers should mark student's attendance register after the interval.
The teacher must sign in the record book after having maintained what he had taught to the students.
Regarding the Teacher / Student Relationship:
Teachers should ensure that the skills and attitudes to the pupils are up to the expected level of
proficiency.
Teachers should always remember that all the children have differences in their learning ability and
they cater for the individual learning differences.
They should find ways to stimulate thinking and self- learning in children. It’s the teacher’s
duty to conduct remedial classes for the weaker children. Also it is their duty to carry out
suitable work for the gifted children in the respective classes.
Teachers should correct the work of their pupils, so that the children would know thestrengths
and weaknesses of the work they do.
The allocated classroom time should be made for active engagement of pupils in learning
activities, not only for the teachers to correct the books.
The teachers should correct/ mark the children’s work and should explain why mistakes were
made by the children during the teaching time.
At the end of each unit an achievement test should be given to the children and the teacher
should monitor the work of the children. The children’s learning abilities should be measured at
all levels and necessary actions should be taken if the child needs remedial help.
The students should be given relevant homework and assignments to do at home after every
lesson. (and should be checked by the teacher)
The student must be encouraged and motivated to do their homework.
The utmost concern of the teacher should be to meet the needs of the children and their progress.
Children who need special attention should be taken care of.

Teachers should act as counselors of their pupils. Therefore to report a pupil to a supervisor or
office should be the last resort.
The teachers should be fair and just to all their Students. They should be a role model tothe
children. They should act as the children’s second parents.
It’s the responsibility of the teacher to discipline the pupils and help them to become
adequate citizens of the country.
The teacher should be efficient and dedicated in producing better results of the studentsin
his/her subject.
All the teachers should encourage the students to speak in English and to maintain the
classroom cleanliness as well as the personal hygiene of the students.
It’s a responsibility of the teacher to create awareness about reading and inculcate thehabit
of reading among the students.

o Teachers Responsibilities to the School:


The teacher has to carry out the relief (substitute) periods in an absence of a teacher. The teachers should
attend co-ordination meetings, subject sharing sessions, discussions subject group meetings, staff
meetings, pre-conferences, post conferences, parent meetings, school functions as instructed from time to
time as deemed by the management.
The Teacher is responsible for the preparations of the question papers; marking thequestion
answer scripts and invigilating the test.
The Teacher is responsible for preparing the report books and analyzing the whole examination
should be done as directed by the principal’s office.
Extracurricular activities and co-curricular activities should be carried out according to the
instruction given by the principal’s office.
The teacher’s regular punctuality is essential in performing his or her duties and responsibilities.
The teacher must inform of his/her absence a day before starting of the everyday session.
The teacher should submit the medical certificate if he/she is absent from school due to
medical reason.
Teachers are not allowed to give tuition to their own pupils. Also they should not tutor in the
compound. Teachers who wish to visit pupils` home for tuition should get permission from the
Principal.
While all the students are required to attend the school properly dressed, teachers must attend
all school sessions or school related functions also properly dressed and the teacher’s dress
should agree to the Islamic culture.

During school hours the teacher must not go out of the school premises without permission .
The teacher must choose the most effective and successful way in any activity in which he/ she
engages.
All the teachers should always contribute to the school in co- curricular activities and extra
activities, when required. Their co-operation is required in every activity that needs
improvement of the school in any way.
Teachers should show respect to authority and one another `especially in the presence of the
students and parents.
Teachers leaving the school while on duty should inform the Principal
Teachers should up hold the professional values at all times and thus should not talk bad of other
teachers or try to defame them.
Confidential information’s regarding the school staff, teachers, students shouldn’t be revealed to
anyone other than those who are entitled to receive them as such action, would be unprofessional.
Teachers always should report to the school ten minutes before the time scheduled to the children.
The teachers who engage the first periods of the session should reach the class before the
children’s entrance.
The teachers who engage the last periods of the session should leave the class with the
last student.
The teacher should respect all his fellow teachers and should obey all the rules and regulations of the
school.
Any task asked of the teacher by school management should be completed immediately.
 Discipline Matters:
The teacher must observe the students conduct within and outside the school campus. And
should advise, encourage and motivate the students to behave appropriately.
When a teacher has serious discipline problems with a student, parents must be informed and
the problem solved according to school guidelines.
Planning:
Scheme of work should be prepared as guided.
Teachers should make their classes conducive for learning to take place most effectively,charts
and suitable teaching aids should be every day devices for the children to get used.

Teachers should prepare well in advance to the lessons they teach. It’s important to
prepare necessary learning aids and supplementary materials to make lesson more
effective and meaning full.
Teachers should complete the syllabus according to the school to enable students toacquire
the necessary knowledge and skills at each grade.

 Professional Development:
In the fast changing world the teacher must keep pace with changes he/she must strive to update
his/ her knowledge and skills.
Teachers should avail themselves to any opportunity arising to keep abreast with methodology and
other changes in education i.e. attend courses when offered /requested by management to do so

 Teachers Conduct:
The teacher should set a high standard of conduct for him/herself in all situations, actsand interactions in a
way that will bring credit and honor to the profession in which he/she is a member.
The teacher should have good qualities, which can be admired by the parents and the
people.
Teachers should maintain an expected level of personal cleanliness and neatness.
