1. System description
1.1 System task
DC system provides DC power supply to signal equipment, protection and automatic
devices, emergency lighting, emergency power, and circuit breaker opening and
closing operations.

DC system is an independent power supply and is not affected by the operation


mode of generator and station service power and system. When the external AC
power is interrupted, the DC system is an important facility to ensure that the backup
power supply --- batteries continue to provide DC power.

The loads of DC system are very important and the reliability requirement of the
power supply is very high. The reliability of DC system is one of the decisive factors
to ensure the safe operation of power plant.

The voltage of DC system of Zungeru Hydro Power Station is DC110V and the
system provides power for control, protection, SCADA, etc., also provides
accident backup power for the accident lighting system.
1.2 System composition
The DC power supply system of Zungeru Hydro Power Station is composed of
four 110V DC power supply systems, each DC system operates independently:
(1) One 110V DC power supply system of the unit.
(2) One 110V DC power supply system of public utility.
(3) One 110V DC power system of switch yard.
(4) One 110V DC power system in dam area.

1.3.5 Charging unit


The charging / floating charging device adopts high-frequency switch rectifier
charging unit. The total capacity of high-frequency switch rectifier charging
module is configured according to their normal load, and N + 1 hot backup is
adopted.
1.3.5.1 DC system charging unit of generator unit

The main technical performance and parameters of battery monitoring unit are as
follows:

1.3.7 Inverter power supply unit


The main specifications of the inverter power supply unit are as follows:
a) Capacity: 3KVA (for single unit), 5KVA (for public utility), 3KVA (for switchyard)
b) Input voltage AC240V ± 20% and DC110V ± 20%
c) Output voltage AC240V ± 1%, AC415V±1%
d) Output frequency 50Hz ± 1%
e) Waveform distortion: ≤ 2% at 100% linear load, ≤ 3% at 100% nonlinear load
f) Voltage overshoot change ≤ 10% Un (when the load changes suddenly by 50%)
g) Noise ≤ 60dB
h) Reliability MTBF > 500000 hours.

1.4 Composition of DC system hardware


110V DC system of the power station is mainly composed of main monitoring unit,
Insulation monitoring unit, charging unit, feeder circuit, battery monitoring unit,
battery discharger, battery banks, connecting cables etc.
1.4.1 110V DC system of unit
The unit DC system is equipped with two groups of lead-acid batter banks with a
capacity of 1881Ah. DC bus adopts single bus sectional coupling. Two (2) sets of
charging units, two (2) sets of insulation monitoring units, two (2) sets of DC
monitoring units and two (2) groups of battery banks are connected to different bus
sections respectively. The rated output voltage of DC system is 110V.
Each charger is powered by two 415V AC power supply circuits and the power
comes from two auxiliary service AC power supplies, one supply on duty, one
supply is standby.

When the duty power supply fails or the voltage fluctuation range exceeds the specified
value, the working power supply will be automatically switched undisturbed to standby
power supply. The unit DC system consists of two (2) groups of battery banks, two (2)
charging cabinets, two (2) main feeder cabinets, one (1) bus coupler cabinet. Each unit is
equipped with one DC feeder cabinet and one inverter power cabinet.
1.4.1.1 System structure
(1) The 110V DC system of the unit adopts the wiring mode of single bus sectional
coupling. One bus-tie circuit breaker is set between the two sections of DC bus.
During normal operation, the bus-tie circuit breaker is OFF. When a charger fails or
the battery is replaced, the DC loads in this circuit can be transferred to another
section of DC bus. The DC power supply system is equipped with two groups of
battery banks and charging / floating charging devices. In normal operation, each bus
section is connected with one group of battey banks and one set of charging floating
charging devices. Two sections of bus operate separately.

(2) Two (2) 415VAC power supplies are respectively input from AC input circuit
breakers QA11 and QA12. After two AC power supplies are switched by ATS,
the contactors KMA11 or KMA12 output one circuit of 415VAC to 9 charging
modules (UPR101~UPR109), and output DC 110V power supply after
rectification. DC110V power supply comes from DC bus section I through
charger output circuit breaker CK11 and provides power to each load.
Two (2) 415VAC power supplies come respectively from AC input circuit
breakers QA21 and QA22. After the AC dual power supply is switched by ATS,
the contactor KMA21 or KMA22 outputs one circuit of 415VAC to 9 charging
modules (PR201~UPR209) and then outputs DC 110V power supply after
rectification. DC110V power supply is connected to DC bus section II through
charger output circuit breaker CK21 to provide power to each load.

(3) Two groups of battery banks are provided. Each group is composed of 52 pieces of 2V
batteries connected in series. The capacity is 1881Ah. They are respectively connected
to 2 sections of DC bus. In normal operation, the battery banks are floating charged.
When the charger is out of operation, the battery can provide DC power to the bus
through circuit breaker QB1 (QB2).
The battery banks can be discharged periodically for test through the discharge device.
The on / off of the discharge circuit is controlled by the discharge circuit breaker
QDC1(QDC2).
Each battery bank is equipped with a set of battery monitoring units for online real-time
monitoring of all batteries. The charger can directly charge the battery through the circuit
breaker CK12/CK22. Circuit breakers CK11 and CK12 are mechanically interlocked and
cannot be closed at the same time. Circuit breakers CK21 and CK22 are mechanically
interlocked and cannot be closed at the same time.
(4) Two main monitoring units are installed in the DC system and one unit is for each section
of bus. The main monitoring unit can monitor the operation status of DC system online.

(5) One set of insulation monitoring unit ZHIM1(ZHIM2) is installed for each section
of bus for on line detection of insulation state of DC system to ground, and can
automatically detect the fault circuit. The insulation monitoring unit
communicates with the main monitoring unit.
(6) Bus-tie circuit breakers MK1 and MK2 are installed between the two sections
of bus. During normal operation, both bus-tie circuit breakers are OPEN.
When the charger or No.1 battery of section I bus is maintained or out of
operation due to fault, the bus-tie breaker MK1 can be CLOSED, the loads are
powered by section II DC bus. When section II charger or No.2 battery is
maintained or out of operation due to fault, the bus-tie breaker MK2 can be
CLOSED, the loads are powered by section I DC bus.

(7) Each generator unit is equipped with one DC feeder cabinet. The DC power cabinet of the
generator unit is equipped with two sections of DC bus. One bus-tie circuit breaker is set
between the two sections of DC bus. The power comes from DC main feeder cabinet. The
output circuit is evenly distributed and connected to two sections of DC bus. Each section of
bus is equipped with an insulation monitoring extension unit for on line detection of insulation
state of DC system to ground, and automatically detect the fault circuit. The insulation
monitoring extension unit communicates with the main insulation monitoring unit on the DC
main feeder cabinet of the generator unit.

(8) Each generator unit is equipped with an inverter


power cabinet. The inverter power cabinet is
equipped with one set of AC240V AC buses. The
output of the inverter is connected to the bus. The
AC load is distributed by the bus. The inverter has
two input circuits, one circuit is from DC 110V and
the other is from the station service AC 240V
system of the power station. Under normal
conditions, the loads are powered by AC 240V
(AC power in priority). The loads are switched to
DC power supply without interruption in case of
AC power fault. When the inverter and rectifier fail
but the AC power is in good condition, the AC
power supply directly supplies the power to the
loads through the bypass circuit breaker.

1.4.1.2 Hardware composition


Two groups of battery banks in the DC system of the unit are installed on frames and are
arranged in the unit battery room [EL152.8m] of downstream auxiliary power house. Two charger
cabinets, two main feeder cabinets and one bus-tie circuit breaker cabinet are arranged in the
unit DC power cabinet room [EL152.8m] of the downstream auxiliary power house. The DC
feeder cabinet and inverter power cabinet of each generator unit are arranged in the cabinet
room [EL.143.5m] beside the generator unit in the corresponding generator unit section on the
generator floor. See drawing No. D-ME-DC01-007 for the schematic diagram of equipment
composition.

The main components of the charger cabinet are as follows:
Several indicators on the cabinet display the working status of AC incoming line, charging cabinet
fault and other information. The cabinet is also equipped with lighting and temperature control
circuits. See drawing D-ME-DC01-008 R1 for detailed components of No.1 charging cabinet. See
drawing D-ME-DC01-017 R1 for detailed components of No. 2 charging cabinet.

(2) 1#/2# main distribution cubicle [00BUA01/00BUA02]
The main components of the main feeder cabinet are as follows:

equipped with lighting and temperature control

and closing status of each circuit breaker. The cabinet is also equipped with

The inverter power cabinet includes the following main components:

1.4.2 Common DC power system


The common DC system is equipped with two groups of tubular liquid rich lead-
acid batteries with a capacity of 1256Ah. DC bus adopts single bus sectional
wiring. Two sets of chargers, two sets of insulation monitoring units, two sets of
DC monitoring units and two sets of batteries are connected to different bus
sections respectively. The rated output voltage of DC system is 110V.
Each set of charging unit is powered by two 415V AC power supplies, which
come from two station service AC power supplies, one supply works, one
channel is standby. When the working power supply fails or the voltage
fluctuation range exceeds the specified value, the working power supply will be
automatically switched undisturbed to standby power supply. The public utility DC
system consists of 2 sets of batteries, 2 charging cabinets, 2 feeder cabinets, 1
bus-tie circuit breaker cabinet and 1 emergency lighting inverter cabinet.

1.4.2.1 System structure


See D-ME-DC02-004 R1 for the schematic diagram of public utility 110V DC
system.
(1) The public utility 110V DC system adopts the single bus sectional wiring
mode. One bus-tie circuit breaker is set between the two sections of DC bus.
During normal operation, the bus-tie circuit breaker is OFF. When a charging
device or battery is replaced, the DC loads in this circuit can be transferred to
another section of DC bus. The DC power supply system is equipped with two
groups of batteries and charging / floating charging devices. In normal operation,
each bus section is connected with one group of batteries and one set of
charging floating charging devices. Two sections of bus operate separately.

(2) Two 415VAC power supplies come respectively from AC input circuit breakers QA11 and
QA12. After two AC power supplies are switched by ATS device, one circuit of 415VAC is
output by contactor KMA11 or KMA12 to 6 charging units (UPR101~UPR106), provides DC
110V power supply after rectification. DC110V power supply is output to section I DC bus
through charging device output circuit breaker CK11 to provide power to each load. Two
415VAC power supplies are respectively input by AC input circuit breakers QA21 and QA22.
After two AC power supplies are switched by the ATS device, the contactor KMA21 or
KMA22 outputs one circuit of 415VAC to six charging units (UPR201~UPR206) and outputs
DC 110V power after rectification. DC110V power supply is output to DC bus section II
through charging device output circuit breaker CK21 to provide power to each load.
(3) 2 groups of batteries are provided. Each group is composed of 52 pieces of 2V batteries
connected in series. The capacity is 1256Ah. They are respectively connected to two
sections of DC bus. In normal operation, the batteries are floating charged. When the
charging unit is out of operation, the batteries can provide DC power to the bus through
circuit breaker QB1 (QB2).

The batteries can be discharged periodically for test through the discharge device. The
on / off of the discharge circuit is controlled by the discharge circuit breaker
QDC1(QDC2). Each group is equipped with a set of battery monitoring units. All
batteries are detected online. The charger can directly charge the battery through
the circuit breaker CK12 (CK22). Circuit breakers CK11 and CK12 are mechanically
interlocked and cannot be closed at the same time. Circuit breakers CK21 and
CK22 are mechanically interlocked and cannot be closed at the same time.
(4) Two main monitoring units are installed in the DC system, one set for each section
of bus. The main monitoring unit can monitor the operation status of the system
online.
(5) One set of insulation monitoring unit ZHIM1(ZHIM2) is installed for each section of
bus for on line detection of insulation state of DC system to ground, and can
automatically detect the fault circuit. The insulation monitoring unit is communicated
with the main monitoring unit.

(6) Bus-tie circuit breakers MK1 and MK2 are installed between the two sections of bus.
During normal operation, both bus-tie circuit breakers are OFF. When the charger
and No.1 group of batteries of section I bus are maintained or out of operation due
to failure, bus-tie circuit breaker MK1 can be put into ON position, the loads are
powered by section II DC bus. When the charger and No.2 group of batteries of
section II bus are maintained or out of operation due to failure, bus-tie circuit
breaker MK2 can be put into ON position, the loads are powered by section I DC
bus.
(7) The public utility DC system is equipped with an emergency lighting inverter power
cabinet, which is equipped with one set of AC240V AC buses. The output of the
inverter is connected to the bus and the AC load is distributed by the bus. The
inverter has two input circuits, one circuit is from DC 110V and the other is from the
station service AC 240V system of the power station. Under normal conditions, the
loads are powered by AC 240V (AC power in priority). The loads are switched to DC
power supply without interruption in case of AC power fault. When the inverter and
rectifier fail but the AC power is in good condition, the AC power supply directly
supplies the power to the loads through the bypass circuit breaker.

1.4.2.2 Hardware composition


Two groups of batteries of public utility DC system are installed on frames and
arranged in the public utility battery room of downstream auxiliary power house
on EL152.8 floor. Two charging cabinets, two feeder cabinets, one bus-tie circuit
breaker cabinet and one emergency lighting inverter power cabinet are arranged
in the public utility DC power cabinet room of the downstream auxiliary power
house on EL152.8. See D-ME-DC02-007 R1 for the schematic diagram of
equipment composition.
(1) 1#/2# Common DC charger cubicle [00BTL11/00BTL12]
The main components of the charging cabinet are as follows:

There are several indicators on the cabinet to display the working status of AC incoming line
charging cabinet fault and other information, The cabinet is also equipped with lighting and
temperature control circuits. See D-ME- DC02-008 R1 for detailed components of No.1 charging

(2) No.1 and No.2 feeder cabinets [00BUA11/00BUA12]
The main components of the feeder cabinet are as follows:

closing status of each circuit breaker. The cabinet is also equipped with lighting
and temperature control circuits. See Fig. D-ME- DC02-026 R1 for detailed

(4) Emergency lighting inverter power cabinet [00BRA13]

The public utility DC system is equipped with an emergency lighting inverter


power cabinet, which includes the following main components:
Each feed out line is equipped with indicator to display the status of each feed
out power supply. The cabinet is also equipped with lighting and temperature
control circuits. See figure D-ME- DC02-028 R1 for detailed components of unit
inverter power cabinet.

1.5 Function of DC system equipment


The main function of DC system is to provide DC power for power plant signal equipment, protection,
automatic device, emergency lighting, emergency power supply and opening and closing operation
of circuit breakers. DC system devices include: charger, battery banks, main monitoring unit,
insulation monitoring unit, battery detection unit, etc.

1.5.1 Battery charger


The function of charger is to convert AC power supply into DC power
supply and provide the power for the conventional load of the power
plant and charges the battery banks.
Two charging cabinets are used respectively for the unit DC system, the
common DC system and the switchyard DC system. One set of charging
cabinet is used for the dam DC system.

Powerhouse DC supply system

Each charging cabinet is composed of several charging units. The charging unit is
configured in N + 1 backup mode, that is, on the premise that the capacity of N charging
units can meet the needs of battery charging current and regular load current, another
charging unit is added. During operation, each module will automatically provide power in
equalizing current. When the rated current is provided, the current equalizing unbalance
will not be bigger than ± 5% of the rated current. When any charging unit fails, the faulty
charging unit exits automatically and the system sends a fault signal. The power module
can be plugged and replaced with electricity. The replacement process shall not affect the
system operation. The device has the function of self-recovery after power failure.

The charging unit has the functions of self diagnosis, self detection, self recovery and self
adjustment etc. It can work independently without relying on the main monitoring unit and
has the function of floating charge in offline (the centralized monitoring unit loses control
function).

Each charging unit has internal monitoring function and can control and adjust the
output voltage and current independently without relying on the main monitoring unit. It
also has the protection functions and alarm functions of AC three-phase input phase
loss, rectifier output overvoltage, under voltage, overcurrent, current limiting, short
circuit, overheating and so on. When the charging unit fails, the system can
automatically separate the fault unit from the system without affecting the normal
operation of the system. In normal work, the charging unit communicates with the main
monitoring unit and accepts its instructions.
1.5.2 Main monitoring unit
The main tasks of the main monitoring unit are: Long-term automatic monitoring on
each functional unit and battery in the DC power system, getting the various operating
parameters and states in them, and processing the parameters in real-time based on
measurement data and operating status, controlling the system based on these
parameters, realizing fully automated and precise management on the power system,
ensuring the continuity, safety and reliability of its work.

The power monitoring system adopts modular structure and is the central part of DC
power monitoring, control, management and communication. It can overall monitor AC
input unit, charge unit, battery bank and feeding output.

The monitoring system has the following functions:


 Providing a human machine interface, through 7-
inch true color touch LCD, realizing the functions
of system operation parameter display, system
control and operation, system parameter setting
and system maintenance.

 The monitoring unit has four remote functions:
remote control, remote signaling, remote
adjustment and remote measurement.

 Monitoring the status of dual AC supply voltage and AC contactors: When


one AC circuit is powered off, the voltage is too high or too low, the phase
is missed, and the three-phase power grid is unbalanced, the system
power supply will be automatically switched to another circuit and an
audible and visual alarm will be sent.
 Protecting the equipment from the following conditions and giving alarm:
Abnormal AC voltage, charging device failure, abnormal bus voltage,
abnormal battery, bus grounding, branch insulation fault, etc..
 Monitoring the output current and working state of the charging module:
When the module is faulty, the monitoring system sends out audible and
visual alarm signals, and automatically equalizing the output current of the
charging unit again.
 The On / Off of the charging unit and the floating charge conversion of
battery charging can be controlled locally or remotely.

 The output voltage and current limit of the charging module can be
continuously adjusted locally or remotely.
 Monitoring the voltage and current of each DC output, status of each feed
output circuit breaker, fuse, insulation and step-down module, sending out
audible and visual alarm in case of abnormal conditions.
 Monitoring battery voltage and charge / discharge current: According to the
charging characteristics and characteristics of the battery, controlling the
charger to charge automatically the battery and change the charging mode.
Online monitoring of the state of the single battery. The discharge and
charging voltage are automatically compensated with temperature.
 Monitoring the input, output voltage and working status of the
communication module: When the module fails, the monitoring system emits
an audible and visual alarm signal. In addition, parameters such as floating
charge and equalized charging voltage of the communication module can be
configured.

 It has local and remote control functions for ATS.


 Displaying the real-time working status of UPS / inverter through
graphical interface, which can be operated locally and remotely.
 It has the function of branch insulation and line selection, alarm for low
insulation resistance of branch.
 Supporting a variety of standard communication protocols, RS232 or
RS485 serial communication ports, supporting 2400bps, 4800bps,
9600bps and 19200bps baud rates. It can be easily connected with the
integrated automation system. Dual network ports support IEC61850
communication.
 The monitoring system provides 8 sets of relay normally open contact
outputs for important fault information and can be extended by
additional modules.

 Displaying the running curve in real time and monitoring the voltage and
current waveform of each measuring point. Saving the discharge curve and
data. Checking the historical discharge curve.
 USB ports can read and write USB flash disk to realize software upgrade or
file backup function.
1.5.3 Insulation monitoring unit
The insulation monitoring unit can monitor the insulation status of bus and feeder
branches and give alarm when the insulation is reduced. The monitoring data and
signals are transmitted to the main monitoring unit through the communication
ports.
The insulation monitoring unit monitors the voltage and insulation resistance of
positive and negative DC buses to grounding in real time. When the insulation
resistance to ground of positive and negative DC buses is lower than the set alarm
value, it automatically starts the branch inspection function.

Showing historic data and recording the circuit number, polarity, grounding resistance,
date and time of the grounding fault, which are available at any time and will not be lost
after power-off of the device.

The main functions are as follows:


 Analog variable detection: Detecting the voltage
of 2-way DC buses and the positive and negative
AC voltage to ground of 4-way buses.

 LCD display functions and keys: Operating the LCD by pressing the keys and
displaying the collected information and alarm information of the monitoring unit on
the LCD screen.
 Communication function: RS485 and CAN communication ports are provided.

 Alarm function: Reporting abnormal phenomena to the main monitoring


module and the fault is indicated by the alarm light and buzzer.
 Dry contact alarm function: The dry contact can be configured as an alarm
node. When an alarm is generated, corresponding actions are taken.
1.5.4 Battery monitoring unit
The battery monitoring unit is responsible for monitoring the working state of the
battery and can monitor online the voltage, capacity, open circuit and short circuit
fault of each battery.
Battery monitoring unit can detect the current and temperature of the battery
bank and the terminal voltage of each single battery. At the same time, the
measured data are analyzed and processed preliminarily. When the battery
status and parameters are abnormal, the monitoring unit sends out fault alarm
signal. The data and signals are transmitted to the main monitoring unit through
the communication ports.

2.2 Operation mode


2.2.1 Operation mode of unit DC system
(1) During normal operation of the system
Section 1 and 2 buses operate separately,
that is to say, the charging cabinets 1 and 2 operate respectively with the loads of section 1 and 2
of the bus and conduct floating charging (or equalizing charging) 1 and 2 groups of batteries. The
status of modules and circuit breakers in each cabinet is as follows:
1) No.1 and No.2 charging cabinets are put into operation. AC input circuit breakers QA11~
Q12, QA21~ Q22 of No.1, No.2 charging cabinets are put to "ON" position, at least 7
charging units in the charging cabinet are put into operation.
2) Two main monitoring units, two insulation monitoring units and two battery monitoring units of
DC power supply system are put into operation.
3) The output circuit breakers QB1, QB2, QB3 and QB4 of the battery groups of the DC system
are in the "ON" position. Bus-tie circuit breakers MK1 and MK2 are in the "OFF" position.
The battery discharge circuit breakers QDC1 and QDC2 are in "OFF" position.

4)The circuit breakers CK11 and CK21 of the charger output of No.1 and No.2 charging
cabinets to the bus are OFF. The circuit breakers CK12 and CK22 of the charger output
to the battery groups are OFF.
5)Each feeder circuit breaker of the main feeder cabinet shall be ON and OFF according
to the load requirements.
6)The DC input circuit breakers QD1 and QD2 of the DC power cabinets of each unit are
ON, and the bus-tie circuit breaker MK1 is "OFF". Each feeder circuit breaker is ON or
OFF according to the load requirements. The insulation monitoring unit is put into
operation.
7)Inverter power cabinet of each unit, DC input circuit breaker QD1, AC input circuit
breaker QA1 and inverter output circuit breaker QA2 are ON. Bypass circuit breaker
QA3 is OFF. Each feeder circuit breaker shall be ON or OFF according to the load
requirements.

(2) In case of system failure or maintenance


In case of failure or maintenance, section 1, 2 of bus operate in parallel, that is, No.1 (or
No.2) charging cabinet provide power to the loads of section I (or section 2) of the bus
and floating charge (or equalized charge) of No.1 (or No.2) group of battery. No.2 (or
No.1) charging cabinet and No.2 (or No.1) battery group are disconnected from the DC
system. The status of each power module and circuit breaker is as follows (take No.2
charger and No.2 battery group out of operation as an example):
1) AC input circuit breakers QA11~ Q12 of No.1 charging cabinet is put to "ON"
position, at least 7 charging modules in No.1 charging cabinet are put into operation.
AC input circuit breakers QA21~ Q22 of No. 2 charging cabinet is put to "OFF"
position .
2)Two main monitoring units, two insulation monitoring units and two battery
monitoring units of DC power supply system are put into operation.

3) The output circuit breaker QB1, QB3 of No.1 battery group are "ON". The output circuit breaker
QB2, QB4 of No. 2 battery group are "OFF". The bus-tie circuit breaker MK2 is "ON". The bus-
tie circuit breaker MK1 is "OFF". The battery discharge circuit breakers QFD1 and QFD2 are
"OFF".
4) DC output circuit breaker CK11 of No.1 charging cabinet is ON and QK12 is OFF. DC output
circuit breaker of No.2 charging cabinet is "OFF", that is, CK21 and CK22 are at "OFF" position.
5) Each feeder circuit breaker of main feeder cabinet shall be ON or OFF according to the load
requirements.
6) DC power cabinet of each unit is normally put into operation.
7) Inverter power cabinet of each unit is normally put into operation.

(3) Battery check charging and discharging


No.1 (or No.2) charging cabinet and No.1 (or No.2) battery group are disconnected from the DC
system. No.1 (or No.2) battery group is connected to the discharge device and then goes to check
discharge. When the discharge is over, No. 1 (or No.2) charging cabinet charges directly No.1 (or
No.2) battery group.

2.2.2 Operation mode of public utility DC system


(1) During normal operation of the system

battery discharge circuit breakers QDC1 and QDC2 are in "OFF" position.
4)The circuit breakers CK11 and CK21 of the DC output of No.1 and No.2 chargers to
the bus are ON. The circuit breakers CK12 and CK22 of the charger output to the
battery groups are OFF.
5)Each feeder circuit breaker of feeder cabinet shall be ON or OFF according to the
load requirements.
6) In the emergency lighting inverter power supply cabinet, DC input circuit breaker
QD1, AC input circuit breaker QA1 and inverter output circuit breaker QA2 are ON.
Bypass circuit breaker QA3 is OFF. Each feeder circuit breaker shall be ON or OFF
according to the load requirements.

(2) In case of system failure or maintenance


In case of failure or maintenance, section 1, 2 of bus operate in parallel, that is, No.1 (or
No.2) charging cabinet provide power to the loads of section I (or section 2) of the
bus and floating charge (or equalized charge) of No.1 (or No.2) group of battery.
No.2 (or No.1) charging cabinet and No.2 (or No.1) battery group are disconnected
from the DC system. The status of each power module and circuit breaker is as
follows (take No.2 charger and No.2 battery group out of operation as an example):
1)AC input circuit breakers QA11~ QA12 of No.1 charger is put to "ON" position, at
least 5 charging modules in No.1 charger are put into operation. AC input circuit
breakers QA21~ QA22 of No. 2 charger is put to "OFF" position.
2)Two main monitoring units, two insulation monitoring units and two battery
monitoring units of DC power supply system are put into operation.
3)The output circuit breaker QB1, QB3 of No.1 battery group are "ON". The output
circuit breaker QB2, QB4 of No. 2 battery group are "OFF". The bus-tie circuit
breaker MK2 is "ON". The bus-tie circuit breaker MK1 is "OFF". The battery
discharge circuit breakers QFD1 and QFD2 are "OFF".

DC output circuit breaker of No.2 charging cabinet is "OFF", that is, CK21 and CK22

5)Each feeder circuit breaker of feeder cabinet shall be ON or OFF according to the
load requirements.
6)The emergency lighting inverter power cabinet is normally put into operation.

(3) Battery check charging and discharging


No.1 (or No.2) charging cabinet and No.1 (or No.2) battery group are disconnected from
the DC system. No.1 (or No.2) battery group is connected to the discharge device and
then goes to check discharge.
When the discharge is over, No. 1 (or No.2) charging cabinet charges directly No.1 (or
