CONTACT BETWEEN CUBE AND RIGID WALL

• Time steps so large
• Reducing timestep scale can possibly get better results.
• No external work or no energy associated
• Observation on the plot:
o Sudden rise in energy levels (which makes no sense)
o No external work or no energy associated
o Some of the predictions we get even after every correct data, are poor or
bad so we can't rely on that.
• After Changing timestep to 0.1
o Lot more reasonable and appropriate.
o Reduction in K.E then it oscillates
o Internal energy also oscillates
Note: Even after appropriate results gained by reducing time step scale we cannot rely on that to
verify our simulation. It could rather be verified by looking at the Global statistics and energy
levels(work on the system = energy level). (to follow this completely in Exams, Labs, Assignment)

TENSILE TESTING
TEST MODEL: 01 (Run time :20 SEC)
Concept of time scaling
o refer video recording for more detail.
o Timestep = DT2MS*SCFT
Influence of Time scaling and mass scaling
o Firstly, observing global stats
o minute difference in curves for energy levels and work

TEST MODEL :02 CONCEPT OF MASS SCALLING (ELEMINATING MASS SCALING) Run time:3 MIN 44 SEC
• End time 0.1(time scaling)
Observation:
o Nodal forces in Y directions
TEST: NO SCALLING AT ALL Run time: 34 hours
o End time : 60 seconds

Figure 1 BOUNDARY_PRESCRIBED_MOTION_SET

o BOUNDARY_PRESCIBED_MOTION_SET:

o Expensive cost wise ( explicit time integration scheme)

IMPLICIT TIME INTEGRATION SCHEME :

Figure 2 FREQUENTLY USED COMMANDS

OFTENLY USED COMMANDS MARKED IN GREEN AS WELL AS LISTED BELOW

*CONTROL_IMPLICIT_GENERAL
*CONTROL_IMPLICIT_DYNAMICS

NOTE: IN STATIC ANALYSIS TIME DOES NOT HAVE RELEVANCE

In the static analysis - only capture displacement field and responses

RAPID results can be gained using implicit method.

IF PROBLEM DOES NOT INVOLVE

NON LINEARITY
MORE COMPLEXITY, THEN WE CAN USE EXPLICIT METHOD(THE ONE WHICH IS MORE TIME
CONSUMING)

PRACTICE TO DO:
FILE TO BE RECEIVED IN EMAIL

Figure 3 details of exercise

- I have used screen capture to save time and better understanding.
