1. REFLECTION
 Why studying English is very important?

There are many languages that are used in each country. However, English is the
language that moves the world today. It is used in much of the planet as the
universal language and has become an essential requirement to have access to
more opportunities.
English is used in a wide range of situations that can be really important for our
personal development. If you want to travel to a country that does not use your
language, then you have to speak at least English to be able to communicate. If
you need to travel to another country for studies, then English is an important
requirement to achieve this, and in fact, many universities require us to have
certifications. Even if you only need to travel to another country for tourism, at
least basic English is necessary to be able to communicate with native people.
Do you plan to work in your country to avoid the work of learning English?
Maybe that is not a good option, since with globalization we now have to
communicate with people from other countries.
In conclusion, there are many reasons that justify learning English. Even
learning English is no longer an option but is becoming a necessity.

Genius: Nature or Nurture?

1. Why are some people geniuses and others are not? Does the environment a
person is raised in create a genius (nurture), or was the person simply born
that way (nature)?
 There are certain characteristics that a person is born with that make them more
talented or intelligent than another, since this depends on genetic factors.
However, the environment is also important, since you cannot obtain a genius if
his talent is not developed or even if he does not have access to basic needs such
as food or education. So, in my opinion, both are necessary to form a genius.

2. What would it be like to be a genius? Describe the advantages and

disadvantages.

In the case of advantages, you could do things faster than other people, as well
as develop things that other people cannot imagine or create. Furthermore, if you
have access to opportunities, you could use your talent to earn money and have a
better quality of life. In the case of disadvantages, you might have certain
complications in interacting with common people. Additionally, you could be
constantly bored with life, since you would not have many challenging things to
do.

Facing Life’s Obstacles

1. There are many different kinds of obstacles that people face in their lives:
Physical and economic are two examples. What are some other examples of
the kinds of obstacles that people face.

Access to strategic contacts and job opportunities could be a good example.

Another example would be access to quality education, as well as adequate
nutrition during childhood. Another obstacle could be the family problems we
faced during our childhood.

2. What are some ways that people overcome their obstacles?

Personal development is the most important thing to overcome obstacles.

Normally, people tend to victimize themselves and show weakness in the face of
life's complications. When you stop being weak-minded and begin to venture
into things that very few dare, then you begin to overcome the obstacles that you
yourself have created.

Making Medical Decisions

1. Who is the person in the photo? What is he doing?

That person is probably a doctor or a pharmaceutical chemist. He is taking

samples and filling them into containers so they can be analyzed later. That is a
very common practice for these professionals.

2. What role can genes play in medicie? Do you think medical treatment could
be more effective if doctors had genetic information about their patients?
 Many diseases are transmitted genetically and appear in a certain part of our life.
On many occasions, when we realize these diseases it is too late. If a genetic
analysis were performed, more information could be obtained to prevent the
onset of a disease. This could save many people by eliminating their diseases
before they appear.

3. Genetic testing is now widely available and far less expensive than it has
been in the past. What would be the advantage of someone’s knowing he or
she had a gene for a specific disease? What would be the disadvantage?

An advantage would be to treat the disease before it appears in the person's

body. That would help prevent it from appearing later or at least reduce its future
effects. A disadvantage could be on a mental level, since the person would have
to assume that they are genetically ill and that they are likely to transmit that
illness to their children. This could lead to many mental problems, such as
depression or anxiety.

Nikola Tesla was a electricity engineering who born in Austria on 1856. Since he
was a child, he had shown his potential to different areas of knowledge such as
physics, math and even, he had been able to learn different lenguages.
Usually, the resources are related to the level of education that a person can get,
but it wasn't the case of Nikola Tesla, because he invented a lot of useful things
to the benefit of the humans using his innate talent. Even though he born in
austria, by the year 1884, he emigrated to USA after he had gotten a invitation to
participate in a project of Tomas Edison. He had worked there during a time, but he
decided to create his own career. During his life, he created a lot of incredible things
that currently are used by all of us. One of his inventions was the alternating current
(AC). To be honest, he didn't invented the AC, since it had been discovered by
another person. However, the improvement of Nikola Tesla was the application of
AC to different devices that we use in our daily rutines. Other invention that Nikola
Tesla created was the radio, although he destroyed his own investigation. Some
years later, Marconi created the first radio, but Nikola Tesla was the mastermind.
Other invention that Nikola Tesla created was the tesla coil. This instrument was use
by Tesla to create electricity using alternating current (AC).
Even though, during the life of Nikola Tesla shared a lot of invention, he didnt get
the enough recognition and money to his projects. He died in USA poorly and his
only friends were the pigeons which lived in his house. Nowadays, the credit that
Nikola Tesla should have gotten is being recovering since a lot of people respect his
name. Nikola Tesla was a genious who showed the power of the natural talent.

My brother: his life experiences

During the life of my brother, he had to face a lot of problems and he had to take a
lot of alternatives as well. However, I feel really happy, because I can see that he
overcame a lot of challenges during all of his life.
First, when he was a child, he usually had healthy problems, so my mother had to
care him a lot. When he was 12, my parents had decided to change his school for
another better, because he enjoyed studying. He had to leave his friends and to get a
education challenge, but changing his school was a good idea, because he
achieved to pass his university entrance exam easily. When he finished the school,
he had problems to get his first job, because he had studied a really specific career
related to the oil industry. Getting a job was difficult, but not impossible, because
he got a lot of professional contacts during his university time, so he was able to get
a job and get his bachelor. The last job that he had was in a big oil company, but he
got another better opportunity in Argentina. When he said his boss the reason why
he was leaving his job, he offered a better salary, but my brother rejected that
alternative, because he considered carefully his option. Nowadays, he is studying in
Argentina and also he is getting a good salary. Traveling to another country wasn't
a bad option.
Finally, I'm sure that he is going to face more thing during the rest of his life, but
I'm really sure that he's going to take the correct options, because I know that he's a
really smart and responsible person.
