HOMEWORK

Topic: Application of Scientific Method.

Due date: Tuesday 9th, January, 2024.

Experiment: Kitchen Mystery Investigation

Objective: Apply the scientific method to solve a mystery in your kitchen.

Materials:

Notebook or any paper

Pen or pencil
Access to your kitchen

Instructions:

Step 1: Observation (10 minutes)

Look around your kitchen and notice anything interesting or puzzling.
Think about what you see and write it down.

Step 2: Question (5 minutes)

Based on what you observed, write a question about something you want
to find out. For example, "Why do ice cubes melt faster in a glass of water
than in the ice tray?"

Step 3: Hypothesis (10 minutes)

Make a guess about the answer to your question. Think about what you
already know and what you think might be happening. Write down your
guess.

Step 4: Experiment (15 minutes)

Plan a simple experiment to test your guess. Decide what you will do and
what you will observe. For our example, you might put ice cubes in a glass
of water and in the ice tray and see which melts faster.

Step 5: Analysis (10 minutes)

Do your experiment and write down what happens. Look at your results
and see if they support your guess or not.
Step 6: Conclusion (10 minutes)
Based on what you found out, write a conclusion. Answer your question
and explain what you learned from your experiment.

Step 7: Reflection (5 minutes)

Think about how using the scientific method helped you solve the kitchen
mystery. Write down any challenges you faced and what you might do
differently next time.

Submission:
Write a report with each step of the scientific method: observation,
question, hypothesis, experiment, analysis, conclusion, and reflection.
Submit your report to your teacher in your Science Notebook.

Note to Students:
Choose a mystery in your kitchen that you find interesting. This homework
is a chance for you to be a scientist and have fun investigating!
