Unit Objectives:
● To identify and classify nouns.

● To teach grammar for communicative purpose.

● To understand and use the nouns in real life situations.

Introduction to the content:


1. Recognize the difference between singular noun
and plural noun.
2. Use capital letters properly.
3. Match singular nouns with its corresponding
plural.
Indications: Write the following explanation to be involved with
this topic, which is: Nouns.

Nouns: are words that manes a person, place,


thing, or ideas. Singular nouns refer about one
person, place, thing, or idea. Plural nouns refer
to more than one person, place, thing, or idea.

Spelling rules for plural nouns


Some nouns do not change at all.
Most nouns add “s” to form plural.
Examples: fish/ fish; sheep/ sheep
Examples: Car / cars bed / beds

Nouns that end with s, sh, ch, x, o, z add “es”. Some nouns change spelling when they
become plural.
Examples: dish/ dishes; watch/ watches
Examples:
Tooth / teeth
Nouns end with vowel + Y add “S”.
Child / children
Examples: Toy/ toys; boy/ boys
Man / men
Foot/ feet
Nouns end with consonant + Y change Y to i
and add es.
Examples: city/ cities; lady/ ladies.

Nouns that end with f or fe, change it to “ves”.


Examples: wife/ wives; leaf/ leaves.
