HOW MANY PARTS OF SPEECH?
WHAT IS PARTS OF SPEECH?
WHAT IS NOUNS?
• A noun is a name given to a person, animal, a thing, a place, an idea, an
activity, a concept or a feeling.

• There are five types of nouns.


FIVE TYPES OF NOUNS
TYPES OF NOUNS DEFINITION EXAMPLES
Common Nouns Names which are commons to all Girls, sons, cats, dogs.
persons or things of the same kind of
class.
Proper Nouns Names of particular people, animals, Nabila, Dungun
places or things.
Abstract Nouns Something we cannot see or touch but Love, anger, happiness, joy
you can feel or think of.
Collective Nouns Groups of things that are not regarded a bunch of keys, a school of
as one. They can be persons, things, fishes

Compound Nouns Nouns are formed by combining two Volley + ball = volleyball
or more words. They can be countable Butter + fly = butterfly
or uncountable.
