A. Preparation
Good morning class! (Good morning teacher!) Before you settle down, please check
and pick up the pieces of paper under your chair. You may take your seat.
1. Setting of Standards
Before we proceed with our discussion, what are the things you need to remember

2. Motivation
Are you familiar with the game Four Pics One Word? (Yes teacher) This time, we are
going to play Four Pics One Word. In this game, you are going to guess the verbs base on the
given pictures. You are just going to raise your hand and the first one who raise his/her hand
will be able to answer. Every time you get a correct answer, your group will earn two points.

B. PRESENTATION
At this time, we are going to read a short story. But before that, what are the things
you need to remember when reading a story? (read properly, do not shout, behave, and
understand the story) Can you do that while reading a story? (Yes teacher) Alright.

C. Discussion
I was walking home from school. Maria is taking off her shoes.
Take a look in these sentences, who can read the first sentence? The second? And the
third? Now, what do you think is their differences? (Their tenses) Right! The first sentence is
in a which tense? (Past tense) How about the second sentence? (Present tense) And the third
sentence? (Future tense) What can you notice on the verbs used in these sentences? (They end
with -ing) If they end with -ing, then what do you call them? It starts with letter P and ends
with letter E. (Progressive) That’s right! These sentences have different progressive tenses of
the verb.
Past progressive tense expresses an action that were in progress at some time in the
past. Also, it tells us about events that happened across a certain period of time. It shows an
action that was going on at a time when another action happened as well.
Now, who can tell me what is Past Progressive Tense in their own words again? (Past
Progressive tense is about the actions that were in progress at some time in the past.) Now,
who can give me an example of a Past progressive tense of the verb in a sentence? (I was
thinking of studying when I got home yesterday.) Who can give me some time expressions
that can be used in Past progressive tense? (All day, entire afternoon, last night.) Did you
understand, class? (Yes teacher)
This time, who can tell me what is Present Progressive Tense in their own words
again? (Present progressive tense is about the actions that are currently happening.) Who can
give an example of a present progressive tense of the verb in a sentence? (I am having an
exercise at the moment.) How about its time expressions? (right now, at this time, next year)
Did you understand what is a present progressive tense of the verb, class? (Yes teacher)
A future progressive tense expresses an action that will be done or developed at a
certain time.
Lastly, who can tell me what is a future progressive tense? (it is an action that will
happen in the future) Right! Who can give me an example of a future progressive tense of the
verb? (I will be attending the class tomorrow.) And its time expressions? (Later, this
afternoon, soon.) Is everything clear about the three progressive tenses of the verb? (Yes

What are the three progressive tenses of the verb? (Present, Past, and Future
Progressive Tense) That’s right! Who can tell to the class what is a present progressive tense?

Progressive Tense in a sentence? (She is presenting at the moment.) What about a past
progressive tense? Who can tell what it is? (It is an action that happened in the past) Who can

entire afternoon.) And lastly, who can tell me what is a future progressive tense? (It is an
action that will happen in the future) Who can give an example of a Future Progressive Tense
in a sentence? (She will be attending the Palaro next month.)
