Dear Parents ,
Sub: Launching MUN - Model United Nations Moment @ SJPS – Reg.,
Greetings from your ward’s school, St. John’s Public School (SJPS), Jalladianpet, Chennai- 600 100.
This is to inform you that SJPS has come forward to introduce and launch Model United Nations (MUN)
Club in our school beginning in January 2024. Though we are too late to bring this activity closer to our
students, we are too keen and confident to make it a big moment among our students and to really make it a
wonderful learning experience in the academic front.
To brief the parents who may not be so familiar with MUN as a program / activity,
MUN - Model United Nations is an educational simulation of the United Nations (UN) where students
role-play as delegates from various countries and engage in simulated debates and negotiations. It will
emerge as a powerful tool for learning and growth that every parent should encourage their children to
participate in.
Objective Behind MUN Club @ SJPS :
1. Model United Nations helps students develop Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Skills.
2. Through Research, Preparation , and Participation in Debates , students learn to analyse complex
issues and develop effective solutions.
3. Students also learn to communicate their ideas persuasively and to listen to and respect the opinions
of others.
4. These evolving skills are valuable in all aspects of life , including in the workplace, in relationships,
and in the wider community.
5. In addition to developing important life skills , MUN educates students into becoming informed and
active global citizens.
6. By learning about the challenges facing by different countries and the issues that are being addressed
by the United Nations (UN) , students gain a deeper understanding of the world and their place in it.
7. As delegates (MUN), students must negotiate with others , manage their time effectively, and work
collaboratively to achieve their goals. These skills are important for reaping success in any field and
will serve them well as they progress in their personal careers.
8. Students participating in MUN are exposed to cultural diversity and desire to make a positive impact
on the world.
With these clear objectives, SJPS under my guidance is getting prepared to introduce and launch this MUN
Club in January 2024. Interested parents who want their wards to find a place in this Club are requested to
fill the enclosed Nomination Form and to forward the same to the Class Teachers (of Classes 6, 7, 8, 9 & 11)
to reach them on or before Friday the 5th of January 2024.
The school will conduct a Preliminary Assessment on the self-nominated students who desires to become
members of the MUN , to validate their primary eligibility to get the membership into the First lot of MUN
Club Members. We will be shortlisting top 30 students from the Junior Category (Classes 6, 7 & 8 put
together) ; and another 30 members from Senior Category (Classes 9 & 11 put together). These first lot MUN
Club Members will be given the required exposure, training and coaching in the needed areas both in off-line
and on-line in January, February & March 2024 , by a powerful resource team without affecting their
preparation for examinations.

May I request the parents to make use of this unique opportunity to enable your ward to be sensitised in the
norms and practices under MUN - Model United Nations.
