I. Introduction

The United States of America has a long history of innovation and invention that changed
society and drove its economic growth. The country faces various types of cyber threats,
including hacking, identity theft, data breaches, ransomware attacks, phishing scams, and more.
The United States of America understands the critical importance of fighting cybercrime and its
importance for international collaboration to solve this important issue. As the United States'
representative, we acknowledge the importance of combating cybercrime and are committed to
putting strong measures in effect to combat this rising danger.

II. Current Situations and Challenges

The United States is facing an increasingly complex cyber threat situation, marked by developing
cybercriminal methods, state-sponsored hacking, and the fast development of cyber espionage.
These dangers include a wide range of harmful behaviors, such as data breaches, identity theft,
ransomware attacks, and critical infrastructure disruption. In the U.S., 57 percent of people
surveyed said they or someone they knew had a device (i.e., computer, tablet or smartphone)
infected by a virus or other security threat. These malware-related cyber crimes could include
having malware secretly downloaded to your computer when visiting a spoofed website or
becoming the victim of ransomware.

Cybercrime has significant economic effects in the United States. Cyber assaults on corporations
and financial institutions cause substantial financial losses. These assaults may include financial
theft, scams, and ransom demands. Organizations spend a lot of money investigating and
managing cyber disasters, restoring systems and data, and compensating impacted parties.
According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), cybercrime costs the United States
economy between $100 billion and $600 billion annually. These financial losses have the
potential to have a knock-on effect on the economy, affecting profitability, investment, and
economic development.

III. Suggested Course of Actions

The United States has prioritized the fight against cybercrime through a comprehensive policy
framework, which focuses on prevention, prosecution, and international cooperation. Policies are
based on the fundamental principles of protecting our citizens, securing critical infrastructure,
preserving privacy rights, and ensuring the rule of law in cyberspace.

The United States reaffirms its commitment to bolster its cybersecurity infrastructure to defend
against cyber threats. The United States believes that a multi-faceted approach is crucial to
address the issue of cybercrime effectively, through strengthening cybersecurity infrastructure by
investing in research and development, promoting public-private partnerships, and supporting
cybersecurity education and training programs. We support public awareness campaigns to
educate the public about the risks of cybercrime, promote safe online practices, and encourage
reporting of cyber incidents. This can help individuals and businesses to better protect
themselves from cyber threats.

IV. Conclusion

The United States believes that tackling cybercrime requires a multi-faceted approach,
combining national efforts with international cooperation. By strengthening its cybersecurity
infrastructure, promoting public awareness, and enhancing legal frameworks, the United States is
committed to safeguarding its citizens, businesses, and critical infrastructure from the growing
threat of cybercrime. The United States calls upon all member states to join forces and
collaborate in the fight against cyber threats, ensuring a safer and more secure digital future for
all.
