Independence day and Buwan ng Wika celebration- Prompt us to go back to our roots and reflect on
question who is Filipino.
Filipino citizen- are those fathers or mothers are citizens of the Philippines , those born before January
17, 1973, of Filipino Mothers, who elect Philippine citizenship upon reaching the age of majority , those
who are naturalized in accordance with law .
Culture and History- have grately influence the manner Filipino learn, live and behave to date .
The Philippines - is a lush island paradise famous for its grandiose mountain views, pristine beaches and
reach and diverse culture changing from province to provinces.
Respect to elders- Filipino great their by kissing their hand while saying Mano Po and constantly
Close Family Ties- Filipinos maintain their tight relationship with their family regardless if the children
are old enough and already have families of their own.
Cheerful Personality - Filipinos have habit of smiling and laughing alot. They smile when they are happy
or sometimes even when they are sad or angry.
Self-sacrifice - The self sacrificing attitude of the Filipinos can be seen as an extension of Filipino
hospitality. Filipinos go out of their way to extend help to their friends, families and loveones.
Bayanihan - Is a spirit of communal unity and cooperation of the Filipinos . It is about giving without
expecting in return.
"Bahala na" Attitude- A Filipino version of famous line "Hakuna Matata" living everything into God's
hand . Came from the word "Bathala na"
Colonial Mentality - lack of patriotism and the attitudes where Filipinos favor foreign products more
than their own.
Mañana Habit- Filipino term for procrastination. It was derived from the longer Filipino phrase called
Mamaya na.
Ningas kugon- the attitude of eagerly started things but quickly loosing eagerness soon after
experiencing difficulty.
Pride- When two parties are not in good terms they find it so hard to apologize and wait until another
party asks for an apology first.
Crab mentality - A toxic traits among Filipinos where one resents the achievement of another , instead
of feeling happy for that person.
Filipino Markers
Proverbs or Salawikain - Are sayings that conveys lessons and reflection on Filipino Belief, Practices and
Tradition.
Superstitions - some of these may be influenced by their beliefs from other cultures.
Myths and legends - This stories are aimed to explain the origin of things , at the same time teach a
valuable lesson
Heroes and Icons /Heroes- serve as a reminder of a patriotism and nationalism as they have sacrificed
their lives for the sake of their countries freedom and progress.
*Do not spread fake news and be democratic in engaging with dissent.

Disinhibition effect - one of the reasons for so much sharing and self-disclosure online.
- the lack of Face-to-face gaze meeting together with feelings of anonymity and
invisibility give people the freedom for self disclosure
Blogs and social media- the primary digital foraon which such confections occur.
