HOME-BASED ACTIVITIES IN Contemporary Philippine Arts from the Regions

I. LEARNING TARGETS:
At the end of the activity, you must be able to say, I can…
. Researches on techniques and performance practices applied to contemporary arts
from Traditional arts.

II. TIME FRAME:


This activity is intended to be accomplished for 5 days October 16-20, 2023. If you encounter any
difficulties in understanding the module, you may send your queries to/ through messenger. I am
mostly available at 9:00 am – 10:00 am during Monday and Tuesday. Please observe the given
deadlines.

III. LEARNING ACTIVITIES:

Watch any of the following documentaries :

A. Dreamweavers ( 1999 ) , DIRECTED BY Fruto Corre, 45 mins.


B. Katutubo : Memory of Dances ( 2001 ) directed by Antoniop Jose Perez, 50 mins
C. Ifugao : Bulubunduking Buhay ( 1998 ) , directed by Fruto Corre and Nancy
Rodriguez, 45 mins.

IV. ASSESSMENT:

Write a reaction paper based on the following guide questions.

1. What forms of traditional art can you identify in videos?


● A documentary titled Dream Weavers called Hinabing Panaginip, The life of the
individuals in a video made by Fruto Corre T'bolis; northern Cotabato. The entire
procedure for creating the Old T'nalak, one of the T'bolis' most amazing creations,
exhibited in the video. Weaving is the traditional art that was shown in the video.

2. What do these narratives tell us about the character of traditional arts?


● They provide us with interesting information about various works of art. inspiration. It
serves as a reminder that they will continue to exist despite every element that strives to
alter tradition. the native people. People put great effort and love into making their
pieces, which Every design has a symbol and a significant backstory. They never miss an
opportunity to showcase their abilities and message to the individuals who have already
forgotten the customs of their homes. In order to continue their journey, they must value
every moment they have. efforts for maintaining their customs.

3. How are the artists portrayed in the videos? Take for example, the Dreamweavers,
which talks about how a Manlilikha ng Bayan like Lang Dulay derives her patterns
from dreams. Does Lang Dulay’s dreamwork come across as strange or exotic? Or
does this account of dreams and creativity give you another perspective on the

● The artists in the videos are diligent workers. folks who are truly passionate about their
work. They are incredibly talented. in each step they take during the weaving process.

distinctive artistic style, her dreams were put to use. She truly left a lasting impression on
the history of the globe. She is familiar with dozens of these designs. inspires many
artists and alters one's outlook on life since each unique piece of art she creates has a
backstory back of it.

4. What specific factors cause changes in art production?

● The strangers' invasion, the demands of modern society the development of technologies, and the
mentality of The contemporary new generations are the causes of alterations in the creation of
art. Additionally, it caused the youth to go the majority of us neglect our old arts since we're so
into new things. We are gradually becoming submerged in the world's modernism, just as the
social networks. But there is also a benefit to the Due to the technology' presence, we can now
understand the background of our customary performing arts, dances, etc. the indigenous people
