Objectives of the BSED, BEED, BPED and BTLED Program


1. To develop relevant expertise and competence in the academe and deliver quality education for the total development of the BSED and BEED students;
2. To produce globally and Competitive BSED and BEED graduates with skills geared toward enhancing employ ability and satisfying manpower needs;
3. To develop creativity and scientific approaches and encourage innovative ideas in the academe in order to provide efficient and effective services in the secondary levels;

4. To develop research competence among BSED and BEED students in order to contribute to the general knowledge;
5. To facilitate the development of skills and attitudes of the pre-service teachers who shall be employed locally and abroad;

7. To develop student's moral character, critical thinking and aesthetic, leadership, environmental and cultural values.

Course Description:
This course introduces students to the contemporary world by examining the multifaceted phenomenon of globalization. Using the various disciplines of the social sciences, it examines the
economic, social, political, technological, and other transformations that have created an increasing awareness of the interconnectedness of peoples and places around the globe. To this end, the
course provides an overview of the various debates in global governance, development, and sustainability. Beyond exposing the student to the world outside the Philippines, it seeks to inculcate a
sense of global citizenship and global ethical responsibility. This course includes mandatory topics on population education in the context of population and demography.

Course Outcomes: At the end of the semester, the students can:


A. Competencies
1. Distinguish different interpretations of and approaches to globalization;
2. Describe the emergence of global economic, political, social, and cultural systems;
3. Analyze the various contemporary drivers of globalization;
4. Understand the issues confronting the nation-state; and.
5. Assess the effects of globalization on different social units and their responses.
B. Skills
1. Analyze contemporary news events in the context of globalization;
2. Analyze global issues in relation to Filipinos and the Philippines; and,
3. Write a research paper with proper citations on a topic related to globalization.
C. Values
1. Articulate personal positions on various global issues and
2. Identify the ethical implications of global citizenship

Course Requirements:
In order to pass this course, you must:
1. Attend the class regularly,
2. Active and intelligent participation to the class discussion and activities,
3. Obtain a high score for every quiz, and
4. Achieve a passing mark in the major examination

1. Major Examination (Midterm and Final Term) – (30%)

Examinations are administered to evaluate the students learning during class discussion. As mentioned, this exam will be administered and given at the same time to all learners.
Written examination includes the topics that were covered from lesson that discussed based on the topic provided in the syllabi. Questions will be coming from the course reading and other
course materials provided by the instructor.

2. Quizzes - (15%)
At the end of every lesson, quizzes are administered to all learners. These tasks will test the students learning of the concepts based on the course materials. The quiz will be
administered synchronously. Meaning, it will be given on the same day and time as agreed upon in the class schedule. A special quiz will not be provided unless a valid justification is
presented. As shown, fifteen percent (15%) of the student grade will be coming from the quizzes.

3. Attendance - (10%)
Students grading scheme includes attendance. So, to earn the 10% of the grade, show up to class frequently.

4. Class Participation/Recitation - (10%)


Ten percent (10%) of the grade will be coming from the participation/recitation in class discussion and activities. Thus, students are encouraged to participate in all activities
applied during class hour.

5. Written Task/Assignment – 15%


Written tasks/assignments provide an opportunity to educate students how to arrange ideas, develop points logically, establish explicit connections, elaborate ideas, debate points,
and locate an argument in the context of past research-all skills valued in higher education.

6. Reporting – 20 %
It allows the students to do a research and present information’s on a chosen topic assigned by the instructor. As shown, twenty percent (20%) of the student grades will be coming
from reporting. Thus, students are encouraged to do this task seriously.
