Lord.
“Good afternoon teacher!”
Good afternoon class!
“We are fine, Teacher.”
How are you doing today?

It’s good to hear that. But before we start our class,

please pick up the pieces of paper under your desk.

the names of the absentees.)

about our previous lesson.
B. Motivation
Do you watch this show?

“Yes Teacher! I love to sing and find the

unknown lyrics”.

Great! We will do Everybody Sing with a twist.

Everyone can participate especially the ones who love to

sing. Here are the rules of our game: First, I will play a
song with lyrics on it, but there are some parts of the lyrics “None, Teacher”
that are missing and each of you needs to guess those
missing lyrics. Second, I will give 5 seconds for you to
guess it and if you failed to do it you are out of the game.
And the last rule is the twist of our game, you need to
observe the missing lyric/lyrics and whoever guess what
are those is the winner of our game. Do you have
questions?

Let’s start!
(Presenting the song with lyrics)

Patricia? (While counting five seconds) “When the nights so long.”

Good job!
“That is not easy”
Nick?

It’s wrong. The right answer is that this life is easy”, good
guess Nick but better luck next time.

Mark? “When the waves”

Good job!
Now to those who got it right plus 10 points in “Teacher, how about the students who don’t
participation activity. have a chance to guess?”

Wait! you forgot the twist, whoever recognizes the missing

lyrics and guess their similarities can earn 20 points. “Teacher they are when, that, and another when
in the first word of the missing lyrics”
Yes, and what are their connections? “They link to other idea to make it one
sentence.”
“I think they are conjunctions teacher.”

C. Lesson Proper

Yes, you got it right!

All the missing lyrics are conjunctions.

What type of conjunctions they are? “They are subordinating conjunctions.”

You are right!

Who can guess what are the other types of conjunctions? “There are coordinating and subordinating
conjunctions.”

That’s correct!
But today we only discuss the subordinating conjunctions.

What is subordinating conjunction

What are the examples of subordinating conjunctions? (Reading about subordinating conjunction)
(The students will give their own examples.)
That’s awesome!
Now, who can give a sentence using a subordinating
conjunction?
(The students will give their own examples.)
(Presenting examples in the screen)
Can someone read the sentence?

He inspires me always because he believes in me. (A student will read the sentence.)

What is the subordinating conjunction in that sentence? “because”

Good job! Let’s have another example

Sharalyn, please read.
Though I tried to be free with them, they did not seem to
like me. (A student will read the sentence.)

What is the subordinating conjunction in that sentence? “Though”

Excellent! Let’s have last example.

John, please read.
When the doorbell rang, my dog Skeeter barked loudly. (A student will read the sentence.)
What is the subordinating conjunction in that sentence?
“when”
There is only one rule to remember about using
subordinate conjunctions:
Can you read the rule Vince? (A student will read the sentence.)
A subordinate conjunction performs two functions within a
sentence.
First, it illustrates the importance of the independent
clause. Second, it provides a transition between two ideas
in the same sentence. The transition always indicates a
place, time, or cause and effect relationship.
Can you read the example Apple?
For example: We looked in the metal canister, where
Ginger often hides her candy. (A student will read the example.)

As you could see, some of the examples included a comma

(,). Whenever you see a comma, you should do a brief
pause while reading aloud.

Most subordinating conjunctions have a comma that

breaks up the two sentences.
For example, "As soon as I wake up in the morning, I go
out for a run."

Do you understand class? “Yes, Teacher”

Any questions? “None, Teacher”

D. Enrichment Activities

“He looked under the bed, where he always

kept his journal.”

“where”

“Once summer arrives, we will be going to the

pool every day!

“once”

Good job every one!
