A. Preparation
1. Prayer
“Let us start our class with a prayer. Class
president, please lead.”
(Class president leads the prayer)
“Good morning, class!”
“Good morning, Ma’am Santos.”
“Kindly arrange your chairs properly and
pick up the trashes on the floor.

2. Checking of Attendance
“Class monitor, do we have any absentee
today?”
(Class monitor will answer)

3. Energizer
“Before you take your seats, let us first
stretch your muscles for you to be fully
awakened. I have here a short dance video,
all you have to do is to follow the dance.
Those who will not participate will dance in
front. Okay, let’s start!”
(Students will dance)
“Did you enjoy it? You may now sit down.”

B. Review
“Before we move on to our next lesson, let
us first have a quick review on what we
have discussed yesterday. Anyone?”
“Ma’am, yesterday we discussed about
the author Catherine Lim.”
“Exactly! And what about her?”
“Ma’am, Catherine Lim was born on
March 21, 1942. She is a Singaporean
fiction author known for writing about
Singapore society and of themes of
traditional Chinese culture.”
“Very well said! Any questions regarding to
our previous lesson?”
“None, Ma’am.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, Ma’am.”

C. Checking of Assignment
“Yesterday, I gave you an assignment. I
told you to have an advance reading about
“The Taximan’s Story.” Did every one of
you read the story?”
“Yes, Ma’am.”
“Very good! I am expecting that our
today’s discussion will be fun and
collaborative.”

D. Pre-reading
1. Vocabulary
“But before that, let us first unlock some of
the unfamiliar words in the story. I prepared
five (5) words which might be confusing to
you. What you’re going to do is to find the
right sound of each vehicle. Then inside
those are the words and its meaning.”

“Now, look under your arm chair. Those


who have the vehicles and sounds, stand up.
I’ll give you one minute to look for your
perfect match. Make sure that your words
and meaning are correct. Then, paste it on
the board. Go!”
(Students roam around the classroom to
find their perfect match and then paste
their answers on the board)
“Good job, everyone! Now, let us read all
together the unfamiliar words and their
meaning.”
(Everyone will read the unfamiliar words
and its meaning)

“As we proceed, I prepared a game for
everyone. I know that you are all familiar
with the game “4 pics 1 word”. You just
have to guess what is being describe in the
pictures. If you want to answer, just raise
your hand and wait for me to call your
name. Those who will get the correct
answers will also have the chance to receive
a recitation chips. Let’s start!”

“Ma’am, the setting of the story is inside
the taxi in a busy road in Singapore.”
“Great! And who are the characters?”
“Ma’am, we have the taximan, the
teacher or passenger, and Lay Choo for
the characters.”
“That’s right! So, anyone who would like to
tell how the story begins?”

F. Post Reading
“I will divide you into four groups. Each
group will have their own task.”

Group 1: Make a slogan about “Parents


hardwork to support family needs”.
Group 2: Draw a graphic organizer that
will show the comparison of youth today
and before.
Group 3: Make an acrostic of the word F-
A-T-H-E-R.
Group 4: Make a 2-3 minutes talk show,
interviewing a father on how he supports
the needs of his family.
