STATEMENT OF THE
PROBLEM
1. In learning vocabulary do educational students struggle with
pronunciation, spelling, length and complexity, grammar, and meaning?
2. Can implementing vocabulary journals be an effective strategy to
enhance the language development and teaching readiness of
education students?
3. Does vocabulary journal is a viable and impactful tool in their language
learning and teaching preparation?

III RESEARCH METHOD

RESEARCH DESIGN
The most widely used research design is the quantitative approach.
Quantitative approach is the study of numerical patterns, a variety of
techniques, strategies, and assumptions are used in the study of social,
psychological, and economic events. Methodologies used in quantitative
research include experiments, organized observations, and
questionnaires (Coghlan, D., & Brydon-Miller, M. 2014).

Survey research is the practice of asking questions of a sample of

respondents and then recording their responses in order to collect
information. This type of research allows for a wide range of methods for
instruments, data gathering, and participant engagement (Check &
Schutt 2012). 2

RESEARCH LOCALE
The study will be conducted at Our Lady of Fatima University-Pampanga
Campus (OLFU-Pampanga) stands as a testament to the transformative
power of education. The university's Bachelor of Secondary Education
(BSED) major in English program, in particular, has nurtured generations
of passionate English educators, where the pursuit of knowledge
intertwines with the noble cause of shaping future generations. The
findings of English education research studies are not limited to academic
journals. They are translated into practical strategies and resources that
empower teachers and enhance the learning experiences of students
across Pampanga.

III RESEARCH METHOD

POPULATION AND SAMPLING

Our Lady of University, it is the sole private, nonsectarian university.
There are almost 155 students who are currently enrolled in this school
with BS Education and 13% of the population are 2nd year BS Education
majors in English. The researchers employed the Quota sampling
technique by selecting 2nd year education students. With quota
sampling, which is a method of non-probability sampling, participants are
chosen by the researcher according to specific requirements, ensuring
that the characteristics are represented proportionally to how common
they are in the population.

III RESEARCH METHOD

RESEARCH ETHICS
The researchers will make sure that they conduct the study responsibly,
with integrity, and in a just manner. It means that the researchers will
carry out the study in a comprehensive and competent manner to make
certain that the answers of the respondents will maintain
confidentiality.

III RESEARCH METHOD

RESEARCH INSTRUMENT
The pre-testing process will involve the administration of a multiple-
choice questionnaire by the researchers, offering participants a broad
range of response alternatives. A multiple-choice question with
distractions, the correct answers, and comprise of a stem. More
specifically, the researchers will use the Single Select Multiple Choice
approach.
On post-test, since the approach of this study is quantitative, the
researchers will be using a questionnaire in survey forms, specifically a
checklist / rating scale for the researchers to gather the needed data.
A structured survey form will be used this time. This will include the
likert scale survey, a question that uses 5 or 7-point scale.

III RESEARCH METHOD

DATA COLLECTION
As a part of the process of improving education, students are
developing their vocabulary. The researchers first acquire a formal
permission from the program head of the college of education for the
data that will be collected.

The last process is comparing the pre-test and post-test. The researchers
will be able to determine if implementing a vocabulary journal helps the
education students develop their vocabulary.

III RESEARCH METHOD

DATA ANALYSIS
The researchers will use descriptive statistics in
analyzing the gathered data for this quantitative
research, for it aims to accurately describe a
population. It allows data to be interpreted in an
understandable manner.
