ABSTRACT

Recognizing the significance of road signs in maintaining a safe and efficient traffic
flow, a proposed system has been developed to address the issue of accidents resulting from
negligence and misinterpretation of these signs. The system utilizes a Convolutional Neural
Network (CNN) to detect and classify traffic signs, subsequently providing voice alerts through a
speaker to assist drivers in making informed decisions. Training the system involved defining a
set of classes and using the German Traffic Sign Benchmarks Dataset, which comprises
approximately 38,900 images of 43 different traffic sign classes. The primary objective of this
system is to enhance the safety of drivers, passengers, and pedestrians alike by ensuring accurate
traffic sign recognition and response.
