Dear MAIS 2nd year Students
Given below are the Guidelines for preparation & submission of Dissertation paper
code: MAIS - 25. Kindly ensure that same is followed strictly. In shaa Allaah

❖ Every student is required to select an issue/problem to complete a Research


project under the supervision and guidance of a qualified teacher currently working
in any affiliated college/research institute /university approved by TNOU for the
purpose of research guidance (PIC shall assign a guide to its students).

❖ Please ensure to decide on the Topic within the scope of MAIS - Islamic
related topics.

❖ Deadline for Final project submission: 11th April 2022 – Monday (TNOU
Contact person details will be shared soon).

General Guidelines are as follows:


1.Title page

There should be a Title Page /Cover page at the very beginning of the presentation
with the required details/information (Title of research paper to be placed in the
centre of the page. Student’s name, email address, contact info, Institution details,
signatures of student & guide to be added below to the title.)

2.Other pages

● All text must be single spaced.


● The text should be in typed format with font size 12, Times New Roman. If
Arabic text is used then please maintain font legibility.
● Main headings are size 14 bold, subheading font size should be 12 bold.
● Use the page margin of 1 inch on all sides on A4 size paper
● All pages to be numbered. The page numbers should be centred at the of the
page.
● Justify the text (align on both sides your margins).
● Complete presentation should contain a minimum of 75 pages and maximum
100 pages inclusive of all tables, diagrams, annexure. Printed matter should be
on one-side of the page - other side be blank.

3.The research paper should contain the following:

i) Abstract
Abstract is a brief (150-250 words) comprehensive summary of the research. Type the
abstract as a single paragraph in block format (i.e., without paragraph indentation).
The abstract contains research topic, objectives, participants, methods, data analysis
technique/s and key findings.

ii) Introduction (1-3 pages)


Introduction is level one heading of research paper. The introduction of the topic will
set the stage for explaining the research. It should clearly present the purpose of
study and give general overview of main research question and kind of proposed
study. Introduction may include following

● Objectives of the Study & Research Questions

● Significance of the Study

● Delimitations of the study (if any)

iii) Literature Review (4-7 pages)


The review of literature should generally begin on a new page. Discuss the literature
related to your proposed study. This section is designed to inform readers about past
studies that have already been conducted, and provides perspectives on your area of
interest. It should close with a logical summary of past research and transition to a
statement about what should be studied next. Remember that the Introduction
discusses the problem. The review of literature should concentrate on solutions
(those that exist, those that are still required).
iv) Research Methodology (3-5 pages)
Introduce the general methodology that was used for your study. You should ensure
that your research methodology has been designed properly and that all the elements
required have been considered.
Research Methodology may include following subheadings

● Research Design
● Population
● Sample and sampling Techniques
● Instrumentation
● Data collection

v) Data Analysis and Interpretation


Mention the data analysis technique and interpret the data accordingly.
vi) Discussion and Conclusion
In this section discuss the findings of data in light of other studies.
vii) Recommendations
Give practical recommendations based on data analysis.
viii) References/ Bibliography
Follow APA 6th Edition for referencing style.

4. Once the project is done, the same needs to be reviewed & approved by the
Advisor / Guide.

5.The project presentation will be assessed by the respective research guide for 25
marks (Internal Assessment/Viva Voce) and the remaining 75 marks (External
Assessment) will be awarded by a panel of experts through central evaluation
conducted by TNOU.
