Comparative & superlative adjectives :

Base form Comparative form Superlative form
(Adjective) ( daha... ) ( en... )

Sıfatların belli çekimlenme kuralları vardır. Bunları 3 ana başlık altında toplayabiliriz.

ONE SYLABLE ADJECTIVES: (tek heceli sıfatlar)

Tek heceli sıfatlar comparative şekillerde sonlarına –r , –er veya –ier eklerinden birini , superlative
şekillerde ise –est veya –iest eklerinden birini alırlar.

cold (soğuk) colder (daha soğuk) the coldest (en soğuk)

tall (uzun) taller (daha uzun) the tallest (en uzun)
weak (güçsüz) weaker (daha güçsüz) the weakest (en güçsüz)

Sonu –y sesi ile biten sıfatlar :

happy (mutlu) happier (daha mutlu) the happiest (en mutlu)

heavy (ağır) heavier (daha ağır) the heaviest (en ağır)

Tek heceli,bir sesli ve ardından bir sessiz harf ile biten sıfatlar :

wet (ıslak) wetter (daha ıslak) the wettest (en ıslak)

big (büyük) bigger (daha büyük) the biggest (en büyük)
hot (sıcak) hotter (daha sıcak) the hottest (en sıcak)

Sonu – e sesi ile biten sıfatlar :

little (az) littler (daha az) the littlest (en az)

large (geniş) larger (daha geniş) the largest (en geniş)

MORE THAN ONE SYLABLE ADJECTIVES: (çok heceli sıfatlar)

Çok heceli sıfatlar comparative şekillerde başlarına more kelimesini alırlar. Superlative biçimlerde ise başa
the most kelimeleri konur:

expensive more expensive the most expensive (en pahalı)

exciting more exciting the most exciting (en heyecan verici)
difficult more difficult the most difficult (en zor)

IRREGULAR ADJECTIVES: (düzensiz sıfatlar)

Bazı sıfatlar comparative şekillerde tamamiyle değişir.Bunlar düzensiz sıfalardır,ancak sayıları fazla değildir.

good (iyi) better (daha iyi) the best (en iyi)

bad (kötü) worse (daha kötü) the worst (en kötü)
little (az) less (daha az) the least (en az)
many / much (çok) more (daha çok) the most (en çok)
far (uzak) further (daha uzak) the furthest (en uzak)

Özet:
adj. (kısa) adj + (-r/-er/-ier) the adj. + -est
adj. (uzun) more + adj. the most + adj.
adj. (düzensiz) adj. the adj.

Örnekler:

e.g. Ali is tall. Ali is taller. Ali is the tallest.

e.g. Ferrari is expensive. Ferrari is more expensive. Ferrari is the most expensive.
e.g. FB is a good football team. FB is a better football team. FB is the best football team.

Comparative ve superlative cümlelerde isimler:

comparative sentences:
“Daha” anlamı barındıran comperative cümlelerde ikiden fazla isim yer alabilir,çünkü bu tür cümlelerde varlıklar arasında
açık bir kıyaslama vardır.

Erzurum is colder than Antalya. He is taller than my brother and sister.

N1 adj. N2 N1 adj. N2 + N3

superlative sentences:
Üstünlük belirten ,”en” anlamı veren superlative yapılı cümlelerde kıyaslaması yapılan tek bir isim (o da en başta , özne
olarak) mevcuttur, çünkü anlatılan sadece tek olandır (en iyi , en kötü , en ucuz…olan şeydir.) Cümlede başka bir isim
varsa bile bu anlamda bu yönde bir değişime neden olmaz.

He is the tallest (boy). She is the happiest student in this class.

N N

adj.: (adjective) sıfat

N1 , N2… : (noun) sözü edilen isim/ler

Comparative ve superlative cümlelerdeki farklar:

comparative sentences vs. superlative sentences

1. sıfatın çekiminde ek olarak sıfatın çekiminde ek olarak

–r , –er veya –ier kullanılır. –est veya –iest kullanılır.

2. sıfat uzun ise başına “more” sıfat uzun ise başına “most” eklenir.

3. “the” yoktur sıfatın veya “most” un başında mutlaka“the” vardır.

4. Birden fazla isimden söz ediliyor ise,

ikinci isimden önce “than” kullanılır. “than” kullanılmaz

Cümle içi kullanım örnekleri:

e.g. My suitcase is the most expensive one.

e.g. Erzurum is the coldest (city).
e.g. My suitcase is more expensive than your.
e.g. She is happier than me .
