NARRATIVE REPORT National Learning Camp (Mathematics)

In the spirit of advancing the MATATAG Basic Education Agenda and in collaboration with
the National Learning Recovery Program (NLRP), teachers at Sta. Lucia North Central School
took on a pivotal role as a mathematics educator for the National Learning Camp (NLC) during the
2022-2023 End-of-School Year break. The following report reflects the program's execution from
August 2-24, 2023, comprising 41 pupils: Grade 1- 11 pupils, Grade 2- 11 pupils, Grade 3 – 19
pupils.

Week 1: August 2-3, 2023

The first week, under the guidance of dedicated educators, Mrs. Nora Arcalas and Mr.
Henry Jefferson Oandasan, Mrs. Marilou P. Habon, Miss Jarmilla Benemerito, and Miss Brendalyn
Hermosura witnessed 41 eager minds embarking on a mathematical journey.
They were focused on rapport building, diagnostic assessments, and creating personalized
learning pathways for each pupil. Learners were assigned to the Enhancement, Consolidation, or
Intervention Camps using interactive games and fun discussions based on their specific needs.

The camp opened with ice-breaking activities, fostering camaraderie, and setting the
classrooms for an interactive learning experience. The teachers seamlessly blended theory with
fun, making abstract concepts tangible through games and practical applications. The pupils
eagerly absorbed foundational mathematical principles, laying the groundwork for the weeks to
come.

Week 2: August 8-10, 2023

The second week saw the camp intensify its focus, with Grade 1-3 pupils delving deeper
into mathematical intricacies under the tutelage of the teachers. The teachers brought forth a mix
of creativity and pedagogical expertise, ensuring that each lesson catered to the unique needs of
their respective grade levels.

Interactive workshops and collaborative problem-solving sessions filled the classrooms

with lively discussions. The participants began connecting theoretical knowledge with practical
applications, sparking a newfound enthusiasm for mathematics. The teachers' commitment to
fostering a positive learning environment was evident in the engaged faces of the pupils.

Week 3: August 15-17, 2023

Entering the third week, the camp reached a pivotal juncture. The Grade 1-3 pupils, now
well-versed in foundational concepts, were guided by knowledgeable teachers. The focus shifted
towards real-world applications, challenging the pupils to apply their mathematical prowess to
solve complex problems.

The teachers’ innovative teaching methods encouraged critical thinking and logical
reasoning. The camp became a hub of intellectual exploration, with pupils demonstrating their
ability to tackle challenges head-on. The atmosphere was filled with a sense of accomplishment as
the pupils realized the practical relevance of their mathematical skills.

Week 4: August 22-24, 2023

The final week of the National Learning Camp (Mathematics) was a culmination of a
month's worth of exploration and learning. Grade 1-3 pupils showcased their newfound
mathematical acumen through presentations and collaborative projects. The campgrounds buzzed
with excitement as parents and teachers witnessed the impressive growth of the participants.

As the participants bid farewell, they left with not only enhanced mathematical skills but
also a profound appreciation for the subject. The National Learning Camp (Mathematics) had
successfully kindled a spark within the young minds, transforming their perception of mathematics
from a challenge to an exhilarating adventure. The legacy of the camp would undoubtedly linger in
the hearts and minds of Grade 1-3 pupils, shaping their academic journey for years to come.
