Photographic Imaging

For this project I decided to photograph nature and how we can see it from a different

perspective than we normally do. I wanted to capture the natural beauty of the nature around us

that we don’t tend to look at on our every day to day basis. I used close up shots and far away

shots to show different perspectives of the plants, trees, grass etc. that I focused on. I had some

trouble at first getting the prints to look how I wanted them in the darkroom but I got it

eventually to work enough where it shows the contrasts in the colors and lighting.

I chose these specific photographs because I think they represented my overall theme the

best and captured my intention of this project. Some of my other photos from the contact sheet

were messed up throughout the process due to the film and printing errors so I specifically chose

to present the ones that represented the best quality of my work. Also some of the photos had

different lighting and came out way darker or way lighter than the rest so they didn’t look

cohesive with the other photos so I chose to keep those out of the set.

As a whole, my photos capture the essence of nature’s beauty and how we can view it

from other angles or mindsets. That was my original intention for this project and I continued to

think about this while shooting to keep in mind what the photos would look like individually but

also together as a group. Placing them all together, I want it to look like a garden or field of all

kinds of different plants clumped together to emphasize the intention of looking at nature’s

beauty.
