Introduction

● Imagine a world where laughter isn't just a source of joy but a near necessity for the body and
mind. Picture a room filled with people laughing and their stress melting away, their immune
systems strengthened, and their relationships built better.

● Thesis-Laughter has profound effects on both emotional and physical health, as it helps with
depressive symptoms by increasing dopamine levels in the brain. Laughter has also been proven to
help stress levels.
Body Paragraph 1

● Laughter might not seem like it assists lowering stress levels

● There are plenty of studies regarding the lowering of stress levels by laughter

● Study done by JongEun Yim, (Tohoku J Exp Med.) "Decreasing stress-making hormones found in
the blood, laughter can mitigate the effects of stress." " laughter decreases serum levels of cortisol,
epinephrine, and growth hormone". Represents the certitude that laughter can help decrease level
of stress.
Body Paragraph 2

● Stress isn't the only thing laughter can aid in.

● Laughter can help ease pain and improve your immune system.

● Study by the Mayo Clinic Staff, "negative thoughts manifest into chemical reactions that can affect
your body by bringing more stress into your system and decreasing your immunity"

● Same study says “It can also improve your self-esteem." By laughing and having a positive attitude,
you can benefit yourself both physically and mentally.
Body Paragraph 3

● Addressing the physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects of health all at once is
known as a holistic approach to good health.

mood" (Mayo Clinic, JongEun Yim, etc )

● Although laughter might not be a "mainstream' medicine", laughter can be considered a

complementary therapy because it can be used along modern medicine such as stress relievers
and anti-depressants.

● Restated thesis- Laughter can help improve your mental health by reducing stress with the
release of dopamine and blood flow, help depressive thoughts with a better attitude, and helping
ease pain and how you view it. It can also help improve your physical health by helping ease
physical pain by having the body produce its own painkillers, improve your immune system by
having positive chemical reactions in your body, and help with personal satisfaction which will help
you connect with others easily.

● Concluding statement- We should all laugh a little more and smile, because can always help
