Xinjiang Medical University, which is located in the beautiful city of Urumqi, is
the only higher-education medical university jointly established by provincial and
ministerial departments in Xinjiang. With the care and support of Chairman Mao
Zedong and Premier Zhou Enlai, the predecessor of the university, Xinjiang Medical
College, had been officially included in the 156 key projects of the national
"First Five-Year Plan". The university was founded in 1954 and began its enrollment
from July 1956. In June 1998, Xinjiang Medical University was established by
merging Xinjiang Medical College and Xinjiang Traditional Chinese Medicine
College. In August 2016, the university was officially approved as the
higher-education university jointly built by the provincial and ministerial
departments.
At present, there are 17,290 staff and teaching members, including 1,544
teaching faculty and administrative staff, 490 of which (31.74%) have senior
professional titles. There are approximately 28,300 full-time students, including
22,298 undergraduates and junior college students, 4,853 master’s degree candidates,
555 doctoral candidates, and 580 international students of all levels.
Now there is one State Key Laboratory jointly established by the Ministry of
Science & Technology and provincial departments, one state base for experimental
research, one international science and technology cooperation base approved by the
Ministry of Science and Technology, nine subcenters of the National Clinical
Medical Research Center, and one international cooperation joint laboratory
approved by the Ministry of Education.
The university has 8 affiliated hospitals directly under its jurisdiction, forming a
cluster of medical resources with concentrated advantages, distinctive features,
extensive development, overall linkage, and high social visibility and influence. The
university has continuously strengthened exchanges and cooperation with
well-known universities at domestic and international levels, and established
cooperative relations with universities and research institutions in Russia, Japan,
Britain, Tajikistan, Georgia, Kazakhstan and other countries.
• Non-Chinese citizen, holding a valid foreign passport, friendly to China and having
no criminal record;
• Abide by the laws and regulations of People's Republic of China (PRC) and
following the rules of Xinjiang Medical University, not subject to any disciplinary
action;
• International student must provide high school transcripts from their home countries.
The best examinee candidates will be awarded admission.
• In disciplines and majors that use Chinese as their professional teaching language,
international students should be able to successfully use Chinese to complete their
learning and research tasks, and have the ability to use Chinese to engage in related
work in their respective majors.
• In disciplines and majors that use English as their professional teaching language,
international students should be able to successfully use the language to complete the
learning and research tasks of their respective disciplines and majors, and have the
ability to use English for related work in their respective majors.
2. Application Process
(1) Download and fill out the International Student Admission Application Form of
Xinjiang Medical University according to the requirements.
(3) Scanned copies of the notarized transcripts for all courses taken during high
school and college.
(5) Scanned copies of the Medical Entrance Examination transcript from the country
of origin.
(6) Scanned copy of the original Foreigner's Physical Examination Record form
and blood test reports (in English and within the six-month validity period.)
(11) In addition to the above materials, applicants for master's and doctoral degrees
should also provide their resumes, study plans, and letters of recommendation from
two associate professors or scholars with corresponding titles or above.
(1) Applicants applying for admission to Xinjiang Medical University, send their
admission application along with all relevant materials to iec@xjmu.edu.cn.
(2) After the application materials are reviewed by the college and interviewed, they
will be submitted to the school for approval and reported to the relevant departments.
(3) The university will issue "Admission Notice" and "Application Form for Foreign
students Studying in China" (JW202/201 form) to the admitted students.
(1) Those who cannot provide the original documents mentioned above at the time of
registration or whose documents are found to be fake by the university's audit will be
disqualified from admission;
(2) If the original application materials is in a language other than Chinese or English,
a Chinese or English translated copy issued by a legitimate translation agency must
be attached.
Students who have completed the contents stipulated in the university's talent
training program within the specified study period, passed the examination and met
the graduation requirements of the university, are allowed to graduate and obtain their
graduation Diplomas. Those who have met the criteria for conferring academic
degrees shall be awarded academic degrees.
