Opportunities:

⮚ It involves electronically and simultaneously sending


information containing signals, print messages, and audio or
video content to a large group of recipients using television,
radio, newspapers, magazines, and digital media, including
the Internet, e-mails, and texts.

⮚ It is a printed or electronic report containing news concerning


the activities of a business or an organization sent to its
members, customers, employees, or other subscribers.

1) The media inform people in general, give information, creates


political ideas, organize social action groups, and helps to shape the
public policy agendas and priorities.

debates, etc.

3) The press sometimes plays the role of a direct political actor; the
media reveals the government's plans that impact on the political
scene.

4) The media also play an accountability role concerning the private


sector and the non-governmental organizations, reporting their
every action in the news, and making sure that they do not harm the
public.

Economy
⮚ It embodies economic theoretical and practical financial questions
specific to media of all types. Of particular concern to media,
economics is the economic policies and practices of media
companies and disciplines, including journalism and the news
industry, film production, entertainment programs, print, broadcast,
mobile communications, Internet, advertising, and public relations.

Education
⮚ Mass media are the educational medium for mass education.
Regardless of class, color, geographical, sociological, economic
diversities, mass media prove as an essential means for the school to
all. Humankind gets a great deal of information from the widespread
mass media like newspapers, TV, radio, magazines, journals, films,
etc. it is not surprising that hat mass media may substitute real
classroom teaching in the future.

Social
⮚ Social media is the means of mass communication that is used by
the public, in general, to interact with the rest of society. Some of the
popular social media are Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and
Google +, wherein people with a shared concern can interact with
other people.

Politics
⮚ Social media have rapidly increased in importance as a forum for
political activism in its different forms. Social media platforms
provide new ways to encourage citizens' engagement in civic life
where elections and electoral campaigns have a central role.

Risks
1) Other people can see anything you can do.
2) Keep the negativity to yourself.
3) Don't post sexual, religious, political, and graphic materials.
4) Never fight with anyone on social networking sites.

Abuses
⮚ Some examples of the abuses of media are cyberbullying, making a
phony account.

MOOC (Massive Open Online Course)

What does MOOC stand for?

Massive
⮚ It means that many people are welcome to join MOOCs, there's no
limit of students who wish to join as long as they register before the
given deadline or before the start of the courses.
Open
⮚ It means anyone can join MOOCs regardless of academic
achievement, industry experience, or any other factors. As long as
you can understand the medium of instruction, you can join one.

Online
⮚ It means you are required to have a good internet connection to
access a MOOC. You can also collaborate with other learners
through online discussion boards or build an electronic portfolio (or
e-portfolio) to share resources. Hence, videos and documents are all
posted online.

Courses
⮚ It refers to the various different field of education disciplines or
subjects available. Content providers offer a list of courses
depending on your interest. You can enroll in any class from "Basics
of Cost Accounting" to"Programming Languages."

Purpose of MOOC

1) Higher Education
⮚ It is very important to remember that MOOCs don't seem to be the
same as formal education, whereby a student has to bear explicit
processes and ways like traditional registration,attendance in each
session, and wearing prescribed uniforms. It is free. However, this
privilege does not mean that it compromises quality. It is more
about looking for the latest trends and issues about their respective
fields.

2) Workplace Connection
⮚ If someone taking the course isn't a student or not listed in an
exceedingly formal college, maybe he or she is already an expert.
MOOCs additionally offer opportunities for professionals to connect
with people who belong to identical field of experience. Sharing
knowledge about the latest advertising campaign approaches may
be shared by advertising professionals, hence, ensuring that they are
not left behind.
